You just miss DA42 TDI with CD-155 engines - supplement is here:

Here's an Excel spreadsheet graph that shows the max cruise performance (TAS) of various versions of the DA42 (TDI, NG, -VI) against the DA62 (at 2 different weights) at multiple altitudes. These numbers were all taken from Diamond's AFM/POH documents.

As more people receive their da-62 and been able to fly them, what are your reviews?

The raw AFM is for the basic aircraft, with no options. Should you purchase the optional TKS (ICE PROTECTION SYSTEM FOR FLIGHT INTO KNOWN ICING) option, then OÄM 62-003 would apply: http://support.diamond-air.at/fileadmin ... S03-r2.pdf

It specifically states:
2.13 KINDS OF OPERATION
Provided that national operational requirements are met, the following kinds of operation
are approved:
• Flights into known or forecast icing conditions.

Originally that was the case for the DA62 (and I think the DA42-VI had similar restrictions originally) until TKS and FIKI were approved.

There is a supplement to the AFM that shows FIKI is approved now. I think it was approved in mid 2016. Here's the linkfor the AFM supplement -

Kinda bringing this back.

Great forums and first post.

Curiosity. In the AFM link that CFIDave posted for the DA62 I noticed in the Kinds of Operations that flights into forecasted / known icing conditions were prohibited.

I know the aircraft is FIKI. Is this just a nuance since that AFM is not tail specific?

Thanks everyone.

New DA42s can now be produced in colors other than white. We just ordered a new DA42-VI for one of our customers in red, and there was a DA42 at Aero painted the same gold color as the DA50 displayed at Aero.

It's not very hard to determine because of all the publicly-available information. My just-delivered plane is serial 56. You can read the online GAMA reports for DA62 aircraft deliveries by quarter. If you go to the FAA's online aircraft registry, you can also see that so far there are about 20 US N-registered DA62s.

As for new sales, let me just say that if you want one delivered in North America before year end, you better get your order in immediately. And this is with DA62s starting to be produced in Canada as well as Austria.

So far, all of the DA62s coming over to North America from Austria have been fully equipped 7-seaters, so yes, we have the 3rd row with 2 seats that work fine for anyone up to about 5'10" in height. We did not opt for a removable stick, since my pilot wife and I like to fly together -- thus preferring dual controls.
Colin wrote:Are you hangared at your home base?
Yes, we're fortunate to have one of only 2 town-owned T-hangars with 53 foot doors. This gives about 2 feet of extra space off each wingtip when towing through the door. We didn't have to be all that careful centering our DA42 within the hangar door opening, but with the DA62 it's a lot more critical.
