I use it with a cheap rolling floor jack (I think it was this one):

It doesn't really work with a bottle jack because as you lift the strut and the weight comes off it, it straightens out and moves inward. With the rolling floor jack, you just line it up towards the middle, and as you jack it just scootches a bit inward. It's all very stable, the tail does not drop, and the other wheels don't really move, although I usually chock them (but have forgotten before with no problem). The part that sits on the jack that pushes the pad is designed for a bottle jack though, so I simply unscrewed the cup of the floor jack, screwed in a big bolt, sit a socket on top of the bolt, and it fits perfectly in the bogert part. I will take some pics when I am there next.
