Re: IRAN Right Magneto or Install SureFly?
Two years ago I replaced the right mag in my 2002 DA40 with a SureFly. No timing adjustment based on MP (not permitted by SureFly for my plane because it has the Forced Aeromotive supercharger). Very pleased with the SureFly; makes engine starts much easier. Had the removed right mag checked out and...

Re: Nose gear recurring AD
Yes, I service the plane at KMYF. Shop now carries the name San Diego Aircraft Service Center. Highly recommend.

Re: Nose gear recurring AD
...and during AI last month, a slight crack was detected in my 2002 DA40. Part (about $4500) immediately put on order, 3 to 5 weeks delivery quoted. But by some miracle it actually arrived 10 days after the order was placed.

Re: Investigating future VM1000 replacement
My 2002 DA40's VM1000 was still working ok, but out of abundance of caution I wanted to replace it while it was still working. My shop recommended the JPI 930 and put in an order Jan 2022 quoting one month delivery. Shop checked with JPI after about a month on status, only to hear JPI had some conce...

Re: Shop recommendations in So Cal
For the past 10 years I've done the annual on my 2002 DA40 at Aircraft Service Center San Diego (Formerly Gibbs Service Center), located at Montgomery Field (MYF). Highly recommend.

Re: vm1000 replacement
Actually the MVP-50P makes use of the existing fuel gauges. That's the good news... The bad news... during the very last day of installing the new monitor, the final activity was calibrating the fuel gauge readings by draining the tanks, and adding measured amounts back in until full. The left tank ...

Re: vm1000 replacement
I've been flying with my MVP-50P engine monitor now for about a month. Incredibly pleased thus far. Aside from no longer worrying about what might happen if the old VM-1000 went bad and couldn't be repaired, I now realize that it was giving incorrect numbers, especially with regards to CHT's. I had ...

Re: vm1000 replacement
Update - after a month or more of arm wrestling with JPI, gave up and made the decision to go with the EI MVP50, now on order. After install, I'll advise on how it went.

vm1000 replacement
My 2002 DA40 still has its original VM1000 engine monitor. While it still performs nominally, the VM1000 is essentially unsupported. Rather than wait for it to fail, I'm planning to replace it with a new JPI EDM930. JPI has advised that doing this will require field approval from the local FSDO usin...

Re: Maintenance shops in WA or Oregon?
I can recommend Northwest Aircraft Maintenance, located at KHIO. They did my annual in 2020
