Re: DA42 engine out emergency at KTOA yesterday.

Thanks Dave, I figured since the MB engines required a RPM reduction gearbox for the props, they might have used that design opportunity to reverse the direction of one propeller. I have a 36,000 pound boat with twin diesel engines and one of the gearboxes does reverse the rotation of the prop so th...

Re: DA42 engine out emergency at KTOA yesterday.

Just out of curiosity, are the propellers on a DA 42 counter rotating?

Re: Multi Sump Fuel Tester & Fuel Strainer

My pilot wife purchased one of these at the pilot shop last week. We are very happy with it and now put the fuel back in the tanks
instead of a gas can we keep in the hanger. A very simple but well designed product.

Thielert (Continental) or Austro failure?
Dave,
The FAA registration has this particular aircraft listed as being powered by Austro E4's.

Re: DA42 engine out emergency at KTOA yesterday.

I am no expert but the reduction gear assembly/governor would be my first suspect for a runaway prop. I was at the airport around eleven this morning and noticed that two guys were working on the right engine. When I pass later in the afternoon, the transient parking spot was vacant so I assume they...

DA42 engine out emergency at KTOA yesterday.

Yesterday, I was killing some time sitting in my car on the ramp watching students making crosswind landings and listening to the tower on my handheld. Torrance airport has two parallel runways, 29 right and 29 left. The wind was 250 at 20kts and gusting to 27kts with some low level wind sheer. A Tw...

Re: How to value a DA20

I agree with Mark above. If I was really interested in the plane, I would start off with a $40K offer. Anything less would be considered a very low ball offer. On the other hand, if I owned the plane, I would also be insulted with a $25k offer and would tell the buyer to go pound sand. Also, you did...

Nice comparison chart Rich. This is the reason, the solid purple lines, that I special ordered my XLS with 40 gallon tanks making it a true four seater.

Re: Grrr

We just had the wettest and coldest February on record here in SoCal. That said, we were still able to fly three separate days. We normally use our plane 6 to 8 times a month. Hopefully we will have a warmer and dryer March.

Colin,
I will mention that to them. Do they have to go to factory for the training?
