Re: Yet another fuel pump failure on 2003 DA 40

Has anyone here that installed the Weldon pump had an increase in radio RF noise when the pump is running? With the Dukes pump I had no noise. With the Weldon I have enough noise to break squelch on Com 1. It is very irritating and we can't seem to make it go away.

Re: Rear Seat Install Technique?

You need to shove, push, cram, use force. It will come out and go back in. It is easier with two people. You just have to muscle them.

Re: Internet site for Engine swap

I have to ask why euthanize the engine at an arbitrary number? Do it on condition?

It's still worth getting the fuel truck records just for piece of mind and also if there was a problem then Gibbs would be aware that they failed procedures.

Re: green fuel from colocator

I am in San Diego also. Where are you located? Who fueled the airplane last? Years ago I got a load of water in a King Air that flamed out an engine. Turns out the FBO was not following standard procedures with their fuel truck and I got the first fill after the truck was returned to service after t...

Re: Oil found on the ground...

If you truly do have excessive oil blowing out the vent then this text may apply. Track your oil consumption. Look at the oil itself and notice if it is turning black quickly.

Re: Oil found on the ground...

Worry more if it doesn't leak oil! My first guess is that the airplane was over-serviced with oil. Above the normal oil level and the engine will blow out the excess. On my aerobatic airplane I put a catch can under it to keep the floor clean. What is surprising is that when the can begins to fill u...

Re: Clamp for exhaust pipe

This looks similar to mine. I think they all seem to leak a little. Not sure how much is too much. Any time a mechanic says something like all 16 need to be replaced I would ask in person to see it and have him explain it. I suspect he is clueless about the excessive cost and thinks they are just a ...

Remember that the tab must be removed to be adjusted. If you bend it while attached you risk damage to the surface it is attached to.
