Re: DA40NG
I have the good fortune of having a 2007 DA40 XLS and 2016 DA40NG available to rent, for essentially the same price. The engine in the DA40NG is great. You don't even have to think about it. It's literally like a car engine - turn the key to start, and move the lever for how much power you want. Tha...

Re: New Diamond DA40 Owner
Excellent! I've been flying the two DA40's at WVFC at KPAO. I assume this will be the third, or is it going to the other club?

Re: New to flying the DA-40: a few questions
I haven't used the thing in ten years (I have a 2001 DA40), but I seem to recall that there is a small O-ring on the aluminum part that fits into the fuel drain. Is the O-ring possibly missing from yours? Ah, you are correct. I don't recall seeing any O-ring. That must be the problem. I'll let the ...

Re: New to flying the DA-40: a few questions
My problem seems to be that the tester probe does not seal tightly into the sump drain, and so there is not enough pressure to drive fuel up into the sight gauge. I just get copious amounts of fuel pouring down my hand and arm onto the ramp.

Re: New to flying the DA-40: a few questions
Thank you for the replies. I think the headset squeal was caused by my headset leads touching some component in the cockpit that coupled the RF transmission into the headset while transmitting. I have been careful to bundle them up and keep them securely away from any conductive parts of the cabin a...

Re: ForcedAeroMotive: SuperCharged DA40
My understanding is that 16,400 is not simply the service ceiling but also the maximum altitude at which the plane was certified, and that substantial additional testing would be required to certify it to a higher altitude. There is a post somewhere on here by a Diamond test pilot who stated he had ...

New to flying the DA-40: a few questions
The flight school I rent from recently got a DA40 on leaseback. I've made a few cross-country flights so far. Man, what a beautiful, wonderful airplane to fly. Maybe in a year or two I'll be able to buy one of my own. I have a few questions that are not addressed by the POH: 1) Is there some trick t...
