Re: Magnetometer issue due to magnetised fuel filler cap bonding wire

Yeah the magnetometer is pretty sensitive. Tbe issue in our 2003 was that when we had our old incandescent bulbs in the tip lights, they would draw enough current to fail the AHRS. Once we went to LED Bulbs and then Whelen LED tip strobes the Issue went away. I once had a Gamin engineer tell me tha...

I can’t answer that one, but it’s appeared on the CASA (Australia) website. Damn it.

Re: Red X's on PFD....

I replaced my magnetometer a couple of years back after an in-flight failure. Since then, I seem to get the red X on the HDG indicator frequently when taxiing. It usually comes back in about 30 seconds. It is possibly related to taxing near or over metals or electrical cables, so I could understand ...

Re: Newbie Question 1 - Flaps UP takeoff

He also directed me to this video of Diamond doing EFATO testing in a DA42. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RQeBHSsL56o Sorry for another newbie question (I’ve never flown a twin), but was the test pilot cheating by always starting the take off run well to the right of centreline? Most of the landi...

Re: Business Seating Configuration

But DAI must have had an evaluation of both (US & Canada) and maybe there is a reason that we don't consider. Who knows :bow In my experience, it usually comes down to which country/state offers you the best tax breaks to locate there. Solution: send a letter to the Prime Minister saying “Trans...

Re: Passing through Aus/NZ

As a Puerto Rico-based DA42 owner flying around the world (passing thru Aus/NZ in Jan) - any tips on flying down under? Any must-hit destinations? Should I validate my license so I can get an ASIC? I wasn’t aware that you need to validate your licence to get an ASIC. Without one, you’ll be limited ...

Re: Customer Survey - Diamond Aircraft 2022

I’m disappointed that there was no option to say “add me to your customer database”. I am second-hand owner, and have even unsuccessful at getting onto communications databases, other than the Austrian one that advises of new MSB/OSB. I’m also surprised to find that my model doesn’t exist - you can’...

Re: Air intake vent tape

For quite a few years, I would gloat internally that I had one of the few DA40s that didn’t have noisy vents. I didn’t understand what you were all complaining about. Then it all changed a couple of years ago - I changed from passive to active noise reduction headsets. Now I get the vent noise, and ...

Re: Power supply for iPad charging.

so if the fuse does blow, is it actually soldered inline, or just easy to change under one of the 3 caps aft of the battery area? Neither. It's a pico fuse soldered to a pair of spade terminals, surrounded by clear shrink-wrap. It's behind the panel (ie the glare shield needs to come off to get to ...

Re: Power supply for iPad charging.

Has anyone tried plugging in a dual USB port charger into the cigarette lighter 12V port? While the fuse is 3A, it is unclear whether that is at the 28V level or converted to 12V already. A prior post comments whether Diamond just didn't replacard, or they actually downgraded the wiring, which soun...
