Ah drat, wish I'd known. Was there myself with several club mates.

Flying the pattern was "interesting" wasn't it :)

Re: 1000 hr inspection question

Thanks Dan and Rick, very helpful. Hoyaj, not sure I understand your observation. I was under the impression that the 1000hr inspection was a big affair and an post from a year or so ago mentioned $8k - $12k range expense. Gary quoted his cost $7,000 in a 2012 post. Has that changed? Some of the air...

1000 hr inspection question

Probably a very naive question, but I couldn't find the answer in the AMM.

Is 1000 hrs defined as Hobbs time, or Tach/Time-in-Service time? I assume it is Hobbs, but thought I'd double check.

Re: Looking for Insurance Broker/Company in the US

Thanks Cary, Moonshine.

I discovered that Falcon's rates for Mooneys are great, and for a DA-40 not so great :D

Re: Looking for Insurance Broker/Company in the US

Dave,

I heard that was the case in the UK, but didn't realize that was true here as well. Yes, this is my 1st aircraft, and I have a lot to learn :)

I almost embarrassed myself - Thank you!!

Looking for Insurance Broker/Company in the US

Hi Everyone, As I'm getting closer to making a decision to buy a DA-40 I'd like to talk to some insurance brokers about what is involved and likely rates, etc. Do you have a favorite broker/company you'd like to recommend? If it is awkward to publicly comment on various firms then please let me know...

Re: Flying near the Grand Canyon

Rick, You're going to have a grand time (sorry couldn't help myself :-D ). Almost exactly a year ago I flew out of St. George for 2 weeks while getting my PPL and my 5hr solo x-country was a circumnavigation of the Grand Canyon with the Zuni corridor crossing. 1) it'll be very bumpy 2) it'll be very...
