Re: Managing cabin temperature

Last summer we flew Baja Mexico at up to 117' F, I created these plastic vents to increase the cabin airflow and outside of the increased noise they flew well up to 140 knots. I traced the opening and cut out the vent opening on some 3/4" plywood. I clamped the plastic over the opening in the plywoo...

Aux input volume

I use my IPhone plugged into the G1000 aux input jack for inflight entertainment. My problem is that the volume is extremely low unless I plug in the charging cable. Plugging in the power cable creates electrical noise. Any suggestions? I am wondering if a shielded cable would help, or if I should h...

Re: Any DA40 owners in Arizona?

I flew Falcon field earlier this year and there is a flight school based there with a large collection of Diamond Aircraft.

Re: Baja 500

We will probably leave KILM next Friday, we have to be in KSDL to meet with the team on Tuesday.

Baja 500

A fiend of mine works with a pit crew for several of the Trophy trucks racing in the Baja 500. He convinced me to fly to the race to provide air support for the trucks during the race. We will be flying our DA40 from KILM to Scottsdale to meet with the teams, then down to Ensenada Mexico for the rac...

Re: DA40 Upper Comm Radio

Just back from the shop, we had to order a replacement radio for com 1 as everything else checked out good. Parts will be in on Friday and then we should be as good as new.

Re: DA40 Upper Comm Radio

My understanding is that com 1 uses the upper antenna, this is the unit with issues. I was unaware that you can switch antennas. I wipe the lower antenna off as part of my pre-flight. I like the suggestion to start with the contacts in the avionics rack first. Hopefully we can resolve my issue tomor...

DA40 Upper Comm Radio

I am taking my plane to the electronics shop tomorrow as my upper comm radio's performance has deteriorated drastically. (G1000 plane) Anyone have any insight with a similar issue so I can simplify the shop's troubleshooting process.

Thanks,
Jim Villa

Re: Power Flow

I have a DA40 fixed pitch, I added both the Power Flow Exhaust and fine wire plugs. It was an amazing improvement. It climbs so much better and at altitude I can fly 141 knots on 9 GPH. My initial installation was incorrect and the exhaust damaged my cowling. I took the plane to Darren at Power Flow...
