Re: GTX345 and missing traffic targets

For what it's worth, I tried to have the GTX345R software updated on two occasions. In the end we ended up reverting the software to the original version. It is not a simple upgrade when a G1000 is involved. On the second attempt we got the transponder updated to the latest version via a laptop and...

Re: Questions from ADS-B install procrastinator - TailBeacon?

I've been procrastinating also after DAC repeatedly assured me that they would have SW to support legacy DA40 ADSB installations. The SW would provide position information from the GIA63W to the GTX345R. That would save the cost of a 3rd WAAS antennae and an additional $1000 off the GTX345R and abou...

Re: 5-hour annual

That sounds about right. I get mine done at KVYS and its 3 people + me in about 5 hours. They have done my annual for the last 13 years. They do at least 4 da40 annuals a year.

Re: Avweb video of Garmin 345 in DA40

Hey Folks. New to the site. But I just completed the install of my Garmin remote 345 transponder. I have a 2004 DA40 with WAAS on my G1000. The installation would have taken only 4-5 days, but I had a problem with my displays that you won't have. Anyhow, costs around $9,000-9,500. But I'm very happ...

Re: Garmin 345R ADS-B installation

Thanks Tim, I don't have the XM WX (GDL-69) so I'll have to see if the GA37 is even an option for me. Since I upgraded to the GIA-63W (WAAS) and SVT I'm hoping that DAC will release SW that will allow the GTX345R to get its position input from the GIA-63W's. This could save me from buying & inst...

Re: Garmin 345R ADS-B installation

Had a successful first flight (2005 non-WAAS G1000) with ADS-B. As other have said...WOW...there is A LOT of traffic out there!! Got my FAA ADS-B Performance Report so the airplane is cleared to fly. Install went very well. Bluetooth works in the front seat, no external antenna needed (replaced my ...

Very NICE! I too am unfamiliar with the anti-scuff plates but they look nice and would be very useful.

Re: ADS-B Options for WAAS G1000 with TAS 600

Diamond Austria is not the issue. Garmin now holds the Supplemental Type certificate for the G1000 in the DA40. The transfer is supposed to go from Garmin to Diamond Canada. But that is not the hold up. If Diamond wanted to upgrade the software they could work with Garmin. There is no software deve...

Re: Advice? Da40 g1000 egt and cht inop

Replacing the reference thermcouple in the GEA71 backshell (~$40 plus $240 of labor) resolved the problem on my plane. Glad I didn't have to get a new config module or GEA71. I was quoted $700 + labor to swap for a refurbished GEA71.

Re: G1000 Wind Speed and Direction

Colin,

You are right. This information used to be displayed and I used it for Pireps. That handy feature was eliminated in one of the SW upgrades... Now I just have to guess at the wind direction when submitting pireps.
