Re: Source of precipitation induced vibration found - antenna

I just bought one of these for my ADS-B installation. I hope that my aircraft resonates at a different frequency!

Re: Spare G1000 Range Knob?

This kind of B#$@]t has always annoyed me no end - manufacturers massively inflating the cost of repair parts. Garmin is one of the worst, but Bendix/King is no different. I always attempt to source repair parts from an alternate supplier (usually the part's OEM with electronic components). I had a ...

Re: Position of front seats

I'm 6' even, and my 2001 Star has the original configuration of the panel. I'm OK for leg room. IMG_2504.jpg As you can see above, there is not a lot of room, but there is some. I keep the rudder pedals one notch shy of full forward. My 6' 4" son is at the limit of both leg room and head room. I gue...

Re: Old codger "wisdom"

Finally, I stand corrected on the Diamond taildragger - sweet looking aircraft. But I will also note that the plane clearly states "Diamona" which, in an effort to never lose an argument, is not really a Diamond with a "d." Yes, I am married - so I fully understand losing arguments, no matter the f...

Re: New Waste Gate Controller AD for AE300

I don’t quite get it. Why not just design a more robust control rod rather than go through the complexity of cables and clamps that really looks like a Mickey Mouse back door fix than anything permanent. It kind of looks like a design fix by committee. A really big committee. I would guess that it ...

Re: New Wing Spar AD

Mine is also good until 2023. I'll do it on one of the upcoming annuals, maybe if I need to do something else that will keep the aircraft down for a longer than usual time. This year I'm spending enough (ADS-B out)...

Re: Tried out my new GoPro camera today...

I'm using the Nflightcam Exterior Ball-Head Mount for GoPro. With this device you mount a surface spud, replacing an existing airframe screw with a slightly longer one. The ball head attaches to this spud. I have one spud on the top of the port wingtip and the one for these photos on the underside o...

...and I really like the video it generates. A couple of stills: GOPR0005.jpg GOPR0006.jpg GOPR0009.jpg Video from this camera position almost appears like it is taken from another aircraft flying in close formation (due, I think, to the stabilization process). There is a slight variability in persp...
