Re: Ipad Mini Mount Recommendations for DA 40

Just as a comparison, for those flying pre-2003 DA40s, mounting the iPad Mini is a bit easier. Mine is mounted in one of the unused instrument cutouts, using an Angerole mount. It is really nice - all anodized aluminum, and fairly adjustable: https://www.angerole.com/mountinstrumentpanel.htm I have ...

Re: Road salt

I suppose that if it was slushy, you could have kicked up some salty slush from the nose gear while taxiing to the affected areas you noted. The rust on the step, and exhaust can be sanded/polished off. The spots on the nosegear will need prime and paint after the rust is removed or converted. Get s...

Re: electric artificial horizon maintenance

They can be overhauled, but then you are still dealing with a 21 year old instrument. Not sure about OH cost, but I'm sure it would be North of $1K. Mine (a 2001) started to get slow to erect a couple of years ago, and I replaced it with one of the RC Allen units. I think the new unit cost around $2...

Re: Low fuel pressure... again

In reviewing my paperwork, I found that the info that I gave for the pressure transducer was for one of two that will work that I was researching at the time, but actually bought this one instead, due to the price being less than half of the other: https://www.mouser.com/ProductDetail/Measurement-Sp...

Re: Gascolator inspection

The gascolator bowl refills by gravity when the fuel selector is turned from the OFF position. There is probably a lot of air in the fuel lines downstream of the fuel selector though, since part of the engine test run procedure done at the beginning of the Annual Inspection calls for testing the OFF...

True. No mention of an 8130 or traceability.

Starting to see DA40 parts from China...

I browse eBay occasionally for DA40 parts. I have been seeing some 'New' parts from China. An example listed below: https://www.ebay.com/itm/386102587693?itmmeta=01HV1R152RBHSH92N98P6X5ACQ&hash=item59e581f12d:g:E34AAOSwOQBldF5W&itmprp=enc%3AAQAJAAAA4Mb7dj10fqlDzzzF83AT04O0mrZxDSlq%2FCAp9ox5T...

Re: Low fuel pressure... again

JPI had one left in stock a couple of years ago. You will have to check now. If not, this one will work: https://www.newark.com/omega/px309-100gv/pressure-sensor-analogue-100psi/dp/30AC8139?ost=px309-100gv It has the advantage of a higher failure threshold pressure (200 psi vs 100 psi for the origin...

My old (very old as in 25 years old) DC ANC headset had this, but I haven't been able to detect it in my DC ONE-X.
