Re: DA20-A1 80HP Rotax - Coolant Type?
You want dexcool with the upgraded (higher pressure) radiator cap. This increases the boiling point. Also, I would advise you to buy the new style radiator (same size, but more fins) from Rotax. I think its about $300-400. Also, use a pressure tester to make sure the system does not have any leaks ...

Re: NLG Replacement Rubber
Does anyone happen to know the correct hardness of DA20 NLG pucks?
I think they are 50mm x 20mm (please correct if not) but haven't been able to locate anything specific about how stiff the elastomers are meant to be.
Thanks!
Did you ever find an answer to this? I’m having sticker shock ...

MT Propeller new STC for DA20-A1
A friend sent me this announcement, thought I'd share it here:
https://www.mt-propeller.com/pdf/stcflyer/FL129US.pdf
It is currently for the 912S3 (100hp), but I emailed MT yesterday and they believe the 912F3 (81hp) should be added to the STC in the next 6 months depending on the speed of the FAA ...

Re: High oil temp and low oil pressure
Do you use 100LL? If so, the lead can accumulate in the oil cooler. I think there is maybe a TSB out there about this. I think you can remove the oil cooler and flush it with solvent to get the lead out. In general though it seems like the Katana in hot summer conditions reaches around 250F during ...

Re: New GPS & Magnetometer Location
Hi Jawanza, Nice video. Similar to the upgrade I made a few years ago on my A1 model (2 G5s, GTN650). Did you end up mounting the magnetometer behind the fuel cell? That's where I mounted mine. Need to remove the tank, but that is not really that difficult. Curious how long the install took you ...

Re: canopy spring broken looking for cross ref part
Hi Alex, just searched my emails, but it looks like I bought it off a company parting out a C1. Sometimes you can get lucky by looking at the diamond parts manuals (for the C1 and A1) and based on their part number you can often find the supplier. I know they source a lot of the other springs and ...

Re: hoffmann prop
If you check out diamonds Austrian website and go to the DA20 models. They show the specifications and if you look at length of aircraft you can see that the DA20e is a different length than the C1. Same length as the original A1. Also, I think in Europe at least, the DV20e (Rotax 912iSC) is ...

Re: hoffmann prop
Hi Keith. Surprisingly the new DV20e is based off the original version of the DA20-A1 ,they called the model the DV20 back then, so I can confirm that its not based on the C1 airframe. The original DV20 had an older style instrument cluster similar to their motor-gliders and used a different cowling ...

Re: hoffmann prop
Kris, didn't realize you also just replaced your engine. I hate to suggest this after the fact, but MT has an EASA STC for converting DV20's and DA20-A1's to the fuel injected 912iSC engine. It's a really nice upgrade. I had contacted MT quite a while ago as well as my local FSDO and you could do ...

Re: hoffmann prop
I just recent broke my o-rings in my DA-20A1. Hoffman actually answered my email and phone requests. I have the parts coming. That said my mechanic is say he thinks it would be a solid idea to go to a fix prop that performs well with the Rotax 912. In his shop he is replacing all if the props with ...
