Re: DA20-A1 Engine Shock Mounts

Hi Al, I'm on vacation this week. I shared a US based company that can procure these with another user on this forum. I sold my remaining ones to Keoki, but would be willing to go in on 4 new ones if you are going to order some. The main issue is that shipping I think was expensive, so you might as ...

Re: DA20 C1 Nose Tire Change Tips

Anyone find any STC or field approvals for a different nose gear fork, wheel, or tire size? $650 per nose tire, not including the tube seems insane! Hi Eric, Wow, thought you were maybe joking about the price... ouch. Anyway, Desser Aerospace sells retreads in the 5.00x4 size for $249.00. The retre...

Re: Hoffman prop overhaul?

Walk me through the steps needed to get experimental category. I think there are restricted type experimental categories available, such as the DA40 supercharger. But I believe these are temporary while you prove out your STC. I do also see mention online about people trying to move type certificate...

Re: Hoffman prop overhaul?

How easy is it to convert (even temporarily) to experimental? Not sure this is an easy task. If you go this route, I'd recommend sticking with a constant speed prop. I would expect a significant performance decrease without it.

Re: Ga35 gps waas antenna location

Hi Nichol, Do you currently have a GPS installed in your aircraft? My aircraft had a Garmin GPS 150 installed. The antenna is normally mounted inside the aircraft above the baggage area. There is a little tray mounted in the upper rear of the cockpit. I upgraded my avionics from the GPS 150 to a Gar...

Re: Alternative Engine for DA20-C!

I don't know of any current alternatives and own a DA20-A1 model myself. But I'd like to think a Rotax 915iS conversion would be a nice option. Combine this with a constant speed MT prop, and it would really perform. The 915 has 135hp and is turbocharged. Wonder what the cruise speed would be like a...

Re: DA20-A1 Engine Shock Mounts

Hi Keith, Thanks for the update. I "know" Keoki from another DA20-A1 parts issue. Seems like a good guy, thanks for the link. I emailed him directly. I was at the hangar this weekend. I still have 6 of these rings. If anyone needs sourcing of these parts in the future, feel free to PM me o...

Re: DA20-A1 Engine Shock Mounts

Hi Keoki, I should have a set of these. The part is Megi 785000. Conti makes then now. It is a little bit of a PITA to remove the old ones btw. The maintenance manual doesn't detail the R&R process. It's up to the user to figure out... Feel free to PM me. I replaced mine about 10 years ago. Due ...

Re: Hoffman prop overhaul?

Hi Dakkman,

Good to know. Did you have to replace anything else or was it just the prop? (governor, etc). Also, any idea of the performance increase? Finally.. the difficult question. How much did it cost?

thanks.

Re: Prop paint for Hoffman prop

I found this in the maintenance manual from Hoffmann: 9.1 The paint of the HOFFMANN composite blades is resistant against fuel, oil and nearly all solvents. The propeller should be cleaned periodically using gentle detergent or equivalent and be protected with car polish that does not contain silico...
