Re: Ground getting energized

Did you put in a plane power 150A alternator. That alternator's positive terminal will short out against the air vent metal pipe for the alternator. The plane power alternator does not need that. Another member here tipped us off to that. I let shop know when they put it in and they had that part c...

Ground getting energized

We had an unusual problem in our DA40 that none of our mechanics/IAs have seen before. After engine start smoke started coming from cowling. The mechanics determined that the ground somehow got energized and heated up the metal fasteners on cowl melting the fiberglass, They don’t know what to replac...

Re: DA40 vs. Cirrus SR20

I am probably a pretty good person to answer this question as I have a lot of experience in both. For background I am a CSIP (Cirrus Standardized Instructor Pilot), and also own 3 Diamonds used in flight training, and have trained students in new and used aircraft of both. When the time came to buy ...

7) N704AB. DA42. Panel and autopilot
8) N412PJ. DA40. panel and autopilot
9) N660 PS. DA40 panel and autopilot.

If we did one, probably do all 3 for standardization.
All 3 nonwaas kap140 legacy g1000s.

Re: The G1000 project - "The next step"

Couple of questions (probably need to ask diamond). 1) What is the difference between a partial upgrade to waas and a full upgrade, cause you can do partial upgrade and a waas upgrade for 90k for legacy airplanes, but a full upgrade is 185k. 2) does a full upgrade include gfc 700. If not, then the r...

Re: Outdated Garmin G1000 software - petition sign-up

Our main problem is WAAS and the second big issue is KAP140. Back to the question posed by Russ from yesterday - one item that has come to my attention since the formation of the G1000 petition. And that is: if there was one really important software feature the NXi and other Garmin Systems have* a...

Re: Outdated Garmin G1000 software - petition sign-up

Yesterday Garmin's OEM manager and I spoke for the first time since he had returned from aero friedrichshafen. He has been extremely busy getting caught up and has been assigned some additional accounts, so he's stretched even more thin now. Obviously there is not much anyone at Garmin can share un...
