Re: Seat cushion options

Hi all! Seems to be a topic spread out in a couple older threads, but would love to hear people's experience with various DA40 seat cushion options. My girlfriend is going to get her PPL (training in a C172), and although she loves the Diamond, she really needs to get her eyes higher over the panel...

Re: More New Owner Questions!

Of course, I weigh 200 pounds which helps. Yes, that does help. I weigh about 140 pounds and while swiveling the plane from the tail (with that long lever arm) is no problem, once I've pushed down (with say 40 lbs of force) I no longer have enough foot traction to move the plane forwards or backwar...

Re: More New Owner Questions!

I am the former owner, Dan. Congratulations! I PM'd you with some information about this specific airplane. Feel free to PM me with more questions about this airplane but D.A.N. is a great resource and has been incredibly helpful to me, and you will get much higher quality answers to general questio...

Re: Nickels and dimes

Hmm... I agree with your general point, but in my case I do think about hundred dollar incremental expenses because if I didn't there are enough such cases that they could add up. For the example you cited, if you do suddenly have a need for the Canada subscription you could purchase it then. I have...

Re: Grande Canyon Corridors - GPS Waypoints

...can I cut across the SFRA at 14,500 MSL and higher (e.g. flying at 15,500 traveling NW to SE, or 16,500 traveling SE to NW)?
I can't think of any reason why you couldn't. Incidentally I was there yesterday - KSEZ VPGCA (11,500') VPGCB KBFL, talking to LA center. Almost no one else around.

Re: Best sun shade for DA40?

I have almost the same pirep as Russ. We just returned to San Jose CA today from a trip to the the Dallas TX area. The jet shades arrived a couple of days before the start of our trip on June 26th so they were first used on this trip. It was a good test case because of the record high temperatures t...

Re: Buying Advice / Pre-buy Inspection Recommendation

Find a proper tax consulting firm before the purchase. For my DA40 I was in California. I took delivery in Nevada, flew 51% of the first year out of the state and the "Safe Harbor" tax provision meant I didn't pay sales tax in California. Same here. I took delivery in North Carolina, brou...
