Re: Thinking of DA40 after SR22

I'm a 400-hour, instrument-rated pilot who has owned an SR22 NA for 3 years. I'm thinking of switching to the DA40 for the below reasons and would love to hear any advice you all might have. … @da40fan Maybe I missed it but I didn’t see a post about yearly maintenance - my yearly annual is $1600. T...

Re: DA40/G KAP140 altitude hold fail due to Electric trim yoke switch

Here is the diagram of the switches on the pilot stick, showing the wiring of the switches. In the interest of zooming in, it does not show where the wiring goes from there. But the wires from terminals 1, 2 and 3 are connected to the flight computer (FC) box directly. Terminal 4 is connected to gr...

Re: DA40/G KAP140 altitude hold fail due to Electric trim yoke switch

The wiring diagram does not support this analysis. Could you elaborate on the symptoms? Does the AP fail its preflight checks or does it balk at altitude hold only? Hello - passes preflight tests (well it allows the AP to be enabled) but will not hold an altitude. yes i use the manual trim wheel al...

DA40/G KAP140 altitude hold fail due to Electric trim yoke switch

Hello all, Avionics mechanic says: “ the trim servo takes ships power and makes 16 volts to drive servo. That 16 volts goes through trim switch as part of self test, if AP doesn't see TRIM voltage it fails. I believe that trim switch has reached the point it doesn't pass the voltage, causing the fail...

Re: What Oil Do You Run?

I am approaching an oil change and wonder if anyone has done the research if it truly makes a difference what oil you run in your 40. I find most people where I fly go with the Phillips X/C 20/50. That is the most readily available. There are two other product however I can buy, one is the Aeroshel...

Re: Diamond DA40 pricing

i have a 2003 DA40 Garmin 530/430 stack with ADSB by FreeFlight. have all the bells and whistles of new DA40s except for a couple of knots of cruise speed.
prices are in the low $100k.

when you bump up to the G1000 there is an increase in the $10ks range.

Re: Potential new DA 40 owner seeking input...

Gentlemen, thank you for your feedback. This is helpful. The W&B is a lighter issue as it will be just my wife and me but the WAAS comment is a major item. Based on listed prices I've found so far this may push me in to another platform- certainly disappointing... Thanks! hello Boyd, there are ...

Cleaning the DA40 static wicks

Hello all,

anyone ever clean the spotty corrosion off the static wicks? take them apart and put them back together?
or do you just let maintenance replace them?

regards,
George
