Re: Requirement To Send Oil Sample to Austro for 100 hr Service

We're past our warranty. Plenty of issues that we're paying for now out of pocket (injectors, timing chains, wastegates). Will switch to US based oil analysis on our next oil change so we can see meaningful evidence of what's going on rather than trudge on unknowingly. Might be helpful to do this wi...

Re: New Waste Gate Controller AD for AE300

See attached letter that is now in my maintenance log which says it is a terminating action. That's great news -- the FAA just needs to update its online AD database to reflect this. I just had the AD performed on both engines of my DA62 last month, and for the first couple of flights afterwards ev...

Re: New DA62 Interior Option - Lounge Seat Option

Presumably you could put bags on the back seats. Folding them down just helps with wear and tear on the leather.

Re: New DA62 Interior Option - Lounge Seat Option

I agree with Colin. I think that'd be the hot ticket. Also, reclining middle row seats would be great. If the middle cupholder in this lounge arrangement could fold up for the occasional emergency passenger (or the middle seat fold down in the current config), that'd be great, too. Hard to make W&B ...

Re: John Weber

I get the sense I should know who he is, but will ask the stupid question: what's his background or who is he?

Re: Required Maintenance at 100 Hours

Ofer, don't have 200 or 300 hour airframe items top of mind, but I do know the 100 hour airframe inspection in Diamond's AMM is practically an annual. If you did it, you could easily ask your shop to sign it off as an annual... except you'd be doing it every 100 hours. 200 and 300 hour items that I ...

Re: Fuel injector SB (Austro MSB-E4-025)

The shop who put the injector issue on our map (Absolute Aero at KHWD) said they weren't comfortable if I brought in Benz/Bosch injectors. I will vehemently push back, but if push comes to shove, we'll try the other shop we use (MX Aero at KLGB) or consider doing it ourselves. Not sure if the latter...

Re: Fuel injector SB (Austro MSB-E4-025)

Dave, what shop is going to be happy and willing to throw in injectors that they didn't source themselves? I.e. without an Austro/Diamond sticker on them?

Re: Unfeathering accumulator

I get it, they want two ways to try and restart (if the engine starter doesn't cut it) rather than one. Just silly after they prohibited windmill restarts (for training). Should be able to make our own decisions there.

Re: Unfeathering accumulator

Unless the engine/starter really struggles to fire up in flight with a feathered prop, leaving out the unfeathering accumulator probably makes it easier to restart with the starter rather than windmilling. Not sure if windmill restarts are prohibited on the Thilert/Centurion 1.7 or 2.0 engines like ...
