Rolling takeoffs are the number one technique to mitigate FOD on props and jets. If you don't need a static takeoff, do a rolling takeoff.
Look under the props when you do a run up in the wet. The little vortex tells you what's going on, and that's with power at 50%/lower RPM.
Imagine full power.

Re: DA62 on order or recently delivered?
We have an estimated completion on our 62 in October. Just a heads up for any Canadian orders: they cannot do the 6 seat with reclining seat option yet. Don't get your hopes up.
Guess it's only an Austrian factory thing.

Re: Delta Hawk DHK180
Given the hurdle of engineering and certifying a different engine in the DA-42/62 airframes, I won't be holding my breath for a DeltaHawk announcement. One can dream, though. Forgot to check back in on this thread. Agree with you wholeheartedly, Chris. The barriers to entry, both from Diamond and t...

Re: Business configuration (STC 62-002)
So it is possible to get a 6 passenger setup with reclining seats in the middle row?
If so, that's great news. Any word on weight difference?

Re: MSB-E4-042 - Crankshaft-bearing cap screws replacement
No more "hundred dollar hamburger" flights or fun flying around on nice days (an Epic turboprop burns nearly 10X the fuel per hour, so it's appropriate only for long trips). Convert it to “three hundred dollar hamburger“ :) Is the consumption per mile more than 3 times on some 300 NM dist...

Re: Fuel filler cap locking tab direction?
I, too, worried about fuel cap orientation. Happy to report I've flown with fuel caps in every orientation (forwards, backwards, and either side) and I'm still here to tell you about it.

Re: Delta Hawk DHK180
Chris—nothing electrical on the engine except the starter.
Maybe you’re thinking of coolant loss. They claim partial power (around half?) possible with no coolant.

Re: Delta Hawk DHK180
A 200 hp and 235 hp version are in the works for certification this year and next, respectively. https://www.deltahawk.com/2024/02/01/deltahawk-introduces-higher-power-engine-options/ Fuel specifics seem closer to Austros that I expected if the numbers below are accurate. The 42/62 use around 7.5 gp...
