Re: G1000 Service Needed / GDU 1040

I have not had this issue before but have my iPad further away and closer to me by having it mounted to the canopy to the left with a RAM mount suction cup. Have you tried that if you think that the error is caused by the photocells being partially obscured? On a completely different note, I just re...

Re: Magnetometer issue due to magnetised fuel filler cap bonding wire

Wolfgang: From your video, it does appear that the compass points to one spot, but I'm not sure it is the wire. I would like to do that test with the wire disconnected from the fuel filler neck, and moved away from the wing. Thanks for checking, I did confirm that it is definitely the wire by movin...

Re: Magnetometer issue due to magnetised fuel filler cap bonding wire

Thanks for the various comments. Re Steve's comment about the Faraday cage, that was my initial thought too, however the magnetic field and distortion definitely leaks outside the tank as this how I discovered the issue in the first place when I went around the right wing with a compass. Given that ...

Magnetometer issue due to magnetised fuel filler cap bonding wire

I thought I share my almost unbeliveable discovery in case anyone else has unexplained magnetometer issues: After an almost 18-month search for a reason for my ongoing magnetometer issue, I discovered with the help of a $10 compass that a specific section of my fuel filler cap bonding wire is highly...

Re: Training schools in UK with diamond fleet

Where in the UK do you live?

There is a school called SEMET Aviation at EGLK (Blackbushe, SW of London) which I like a lot and where my daughter is now doing her PPL. They have a fleet of DA40s and DA42s and the school was opened by BA pilots.

No DA40-180 produced for 4 years?

I never realised the extent of the DA40-180 production hiatus that it was almost 4 years: It looks like the first DA40-180 with G1000 NXi with serial number 40.1210 was registered in May this year (https://registry.faa.gov/aircraftinquiry/NNum_Results.aspx?NNumbertxt=13DA) whilst 40.1208 was registe...

Is that a closure for good or a temporary closure due to the Corona virus?

Re: Interior - leather on seats

Looks like here is an EASA one based in the UK (beware no-deal Brexit depending on which CAA their approval is based from ;-) ):

Neither of the two seem expensive or complicated.

Re: Interior - leather on seats

I don't know regarding EASA testing requirements but here is a company (googled just now, never used by me) that does the testing under FAA regulations:
