Re: Removing G1000 from a Da40?

The G1000 has a surprisingly small scrap value. When I was running the numbers with my adjuster to evaluate total vs repair, he communicated that most owners are surprised by this. He stated that it’s a combination of good product support (da40 software issues aside) and of good quality. The avidyne...

Re: How do I know what unlock cards I should have

I’m guessing SVS. I have that sound burned into my memory from my da40 that did not have TAWS.

Re: How do I know what unlock cards I should have

Small point : “terrain system okay” is not a product of TAWS, unlike “500.”

A&P/IA at or near CGS

I'm newly based at KCGS and looking for any recommendations for an AP/IA that could do some service on the field when necessary, or that I can otherwise ferry the airplane to. Especially interested in any that may allow owner-assisted annuals in their hangar as there are, as of now, no hangars at CGS.

Re: Sky-Tec starters

First, thanks to the posters above for the helpful information in this thread. I'm in the market for a starter and based on the information above I was expecting to pay more for the XLT than the LS. Was surprised to see that the XLT was $25 cheaper. Anyone know why this is? Is there a downside to th...

Re: Ding on my Hartzell Composite prop.

I had my Hartzell composite prop pulled and repaired due to a number of chips bigger than that one. The nicks were within tolerances as per the prop guidelines, but I wanted them addressed anyways. They returned it good as new and then some for about $400. Incredibly happy with the outcome. I also h...

Re: You are not going to believe this!

Dave - My mechanic just gave me some of his 3M grip tape for free. Ironically, when I removed the old stuff it was the same 3M grip tape. I just struggle understanding how they end up at over $600 for it.

Re: You are not going to believe this!

If I may, I've been looking for an opportunity to share what I think may be the most insane quote ever received from diamond. This thread seems to provide that opportunity.

Replacement grip tape for the entry steps: $635.94.

How does this even happen? Is it a joke?

This is unfathomable to me. What is the possible rationale for not including this system on a ~$1m aircraft that is trying to compete with the TTX and SR22T, especially when DIA has experience with the TKS system through the DA42?
