SureFly Failure

I installed a SureFly in December, 2019, and had approximately 750 hours tach time on the unit. No timing advance was used and other than the well known mag time lag causing a backfire, no significant problems were noted. When the update for this problem was released, I was told that my unit would n...

Re: No plans for Diamond GFC 500 autopilot?

Like Rich, I have no complaints about the KAP140 in modes other than on an approach. As the lateral sensitivity increases (especially after the faf), the lateral oscillation can become excessive with majority of approaches requiring hand flying or input using the CWS. Is there any solution to this b...

Re: Flap mass balance corrosion

For anyone interested, the part number for the flap arm balance is DA4-5751-00-62MOD. I also could not find the part in the IPC or in the maintenance manual. Brittany at Premier Aircraft at KFXE had the part in stock and also confirmed its elusive nature in the Diamond publications. Apparently they ...

Re: IRAN Right Magneto or Install SureFly?

I installed an early version of the SureFly in Nov. 2019 for the left mag, disconnecting the SlickStart. I did not utilize the timing advance feature. The starts are easy and the SureFly has performed as advertised. I was fortunate in having none of the problems mentioned in the earlier threads. I w...

Re: Air intake vent tape

Thanks for the compliment. Unfortunately after making several plugs for two different years of the DA-40 plus my own plane, I have found that the vents are all slightly different. This requires that the vent plug be fashioned to each plane in order to make it good looking as well as a tight fit. Qui...

Re: Air intake vent tape

Sorry for the error, but I meant taping the bottom vent worked the best.

Re: Air intake vent tape

B9B77DDD-8619-4B6B-A5D9-3C37BFEDEE11.png On my plane, I tried taping the bottom then top vent as a comparison. Taping the bottom vent gave me the best ventilation and noise reduction. As noted in previous posts, the sailplane tape would wrinkle, and with time eventually come off the vent. My soluti...

Whether there is a single pilot or a copilot determines where the concentrator is hung. Behind the pilot seat is...

Re: Desser Retreads

I have used Desser retreads for the last 10 years without problems.
The wear is good, slightly less than the Flight Specials, but certainly worth the difference in cost.

No problem with the fairings.
