Re: CFI, MEI, 135 etc... just want to talk this out

so perusing ads for DA40s, often times, WAAS is not listed either way. Is there a way to tell besides asking? Is there an avionics package that everyone knows includes WAAS? See avionics details on GIA63. "W" means WAAS. GIA63 (no WAAS) GIA63W (with WAAS) Nonetheless, better to ask becaus...

My thoughts also. My birdstrike repair from 20+ years ago is very slightly visible in just the right light and angle.
Thanks. There's no composite repair history in my logbook. I'll need to talk to my mechanic...

Slow retracting seatbelt reels

The pilot/co-pilot seatbelt reels on my 2005 DA40 are getting sluggish to retract. I watched some YouTube videos to clean the surface and it improved a bit, but not as quick&smooth as before. I wondered if there's anything I should try before asking my mechanic to replace them. Also if anyone kn...

Color fading on wings

I have 2005 DA40. Always hangared. Last weekend I noticed there are slight color fadings on the inboard leading edge with an interesting shape. Does anyone know this issue? I photoshopped the images to increase contrast. The actual color is very subtle but still noticeable. IMG_8600.jpg IMG_8599.jpg

Matt, can you give more details? I'm going to install PowerFlow next year so wanted to know more about the trouble you encountered.

Re: Annual frustration

Hi Dan, sorry for your frustration. $10K for the past 4 years sounds too much. I'm also curious about what was the details of work items. Structurual issues and corrosion are not very common in DA40. I have 2005 model. My annual has been around $5.5~7.5K on average, with no big squawk. I'm in San Fr...

Re: Thanks for the add....

Welcome Scot! I'm originally from Yokohama, Japan, and now live and fly in the US for over 10 years.
It's great to hear the Diamond fleet flies in Japan.
Looking forward to seeing the picture of your new birds!

Re: Interior trim peeling off

Yeah, the original glue leaves brown-ish ugly residue and it's hard to remove. I'm seeing the residue here and there like footwell, around rudder pedals, etc...
Does anyone know any good remover?

Interior trim peeling off

I have 2005 DA40. The interior trim in the passenger seat has been affixed with Velcro and it's peeling off. The Velcro has been there since I purchased my plane from a previous owner. Using Velcro doesn't look like the best solution since the adhesive gets weak over time. Any ideas to keep it affix...
