I’d love a separate thread on flying to saint johns. I’ve always wanted to.
Did you fly over Nova Scotia? And did you wear a survival suit for the water crossing? How remote was it? And will you stop in Saint Pierre while out there? Super cool trip. Sorry about the misfueling stress.

Re: IRAN Right Magneto or Install SureFly?
Question about Surefly operations - If I accidentally hit the master switch OFF mid flight, will that turn off the Surefly? I’ve accidentally done this more than once, reaching down to scratch my foot or something. It’s mildly disruptive as screens go blank and autopilot switches off. It would be ve...

Re: Best prop?
When I installed Powerflow, they had a great deal on the new metal hartzell prop. I wanted the composite but it must have been $8k more. And some old diamond marketing pdf said the metal hartzell is the fastest. I sold the old 4000hr prop and avoided overhaul costs, so economically it wasn’t terribl...

Re: Panel vibration / rattle
The squeaky rattle is actually coming from the panel itself. I can stop the rattle by putting pressure on the grey panel cover next to the light dimmers, just above the PFD. Note - I’ve solved a very bad rattle before when mechanics didn’t tighten all screws around the panel and the rattle is alarmi...

Panel vibration / rattle
When I’m at idle, I’ve noticed the panel has a creaky rattle from vibrations. I know it needs to be tightened up bc just placing pressure from my hand on the panel makes the rattle stop. I’ve tried tightening screws around the panel but it only helps so much. Has anyone had luck or suggestions on ti...

Re: Bicycles in the back of a DA62
If you like mixing biking with flying, its worth looking into a brompton folding bike. I regularly put two in the DA-40, and they unfold ready to ride in 20 seconds. Brompton is a brand that has a cult following matching diamond or beechcraft. I cant say enough good things about the bike. I ride it ...

Re: KAP140 Failure
This happened to me, conveniently 1hr into a 7hr flight to Florida.
The problem was a roll servo gone bad, Sarasota avionics found a replacement to swap in and it was fixed.

When I told my local mechanic what I needed, he also said he’d rather use zip ties, which work better and last longer. I’ll be going that route…

Brake line clips
Does anyone know the part number or after market part for the clip that holds the brake line onto the main landing gear? And is it easy to fix myself or should I have the shop fix? Mine must have broken sometime during / after the annual bc the brake line is no longer firmly clipped to the gear. Tha...
