Re: DA40NG N907L forced landing on a highway
Regarding the 3% failure rate. We are headed to NZ on a Ponant cruise and then to Australia, Hamilton Island, etc to the Great Barrier Reef. I've been reading about this irukandji. I wonder what the chance is of being stung by one of these? I hope it is less than 3%. We have N035, and so far have be...

Re: DA40NG N907L forced landing on a highway
Not sure if this has been posted of not. Question: Did connecting rod failure cause the accident or is it a result of loss of oil pressure? https://data.ntsb.gov/carol-repgen/api/Aviation/ReportMain/GenerateNewestReport/193528/pdf Aviation Investigation Preliminary Report Location: Asheville, NC Acc...

Re: DA40NG N907L forced landing on a highway
Just got an answer to my text. No serious injuries reported, they were from the Indianapolis location and in MB for winter training. I think all they know now is what is revealed on the audio. Loss of oil pressure and dual ecu failure.

Re: DA40NG N907L forced landing on a highway
Our instructor is now at the MB location. I haves a text and call into him to make sure he's ok, and the voice I don't think is his. We purchased the NG for a variety or reasons, but near the very top is safely. Not many fires in any of the crashes, and I was surprised to see the fire. But jet A doe...

Re: New MSB about to be issued
I believe that there has been an over reaction on this this forum/thread regarding the Austo engine issue. There is no doubt that this is a serious issue however I think the alarm expressed by some is a bit too much. On the issue of Diamond/Austro's liquidity and it ability to pay for this MSB, I d...

Re: Don’t get out with the prop running
During my Mishap Investigation training in the Navy, I got to study a lot of Mishap Reports. One that I remember particularly was a prop strike of a ground crewmember by a P3 propeller at night. The photos were extremely disturbing (even for a surgeon like myself that worked in an inner city ER). T...

Re: Don’t get out with the prop running
I did look at our NG this past week, and it does have a blue foot symbol on the backside of the wing at the passengers door. Right beside it is a do not step symbol on the flap. That said, safest is obvious to cut off the plane and never even consider getting in and out of the front. With the wind f...

Re: Don’t get out with the prop running
Here it is on Pilots of America. I sure hope they have a tremendous faith as that is what often helps families get through tragedies like this.
