Any value of XM weather?

I have ADS-B in with an Stratux but due to overheating of my ipads I purchased a Garmin Aera 660. The Garmin is awesome, very little glare, large screen, easy to use, and doesn't seem to overheat. I need to add traffic and weather for the Garmin and was considering the GDL-52. Is XM weather valuable...

Re: Propellor Needed desperately.

There has to be a story here.... Do tell. Contact Hoffman or Hope Aero, ship them your prop and they will repair it and replace the broken blade and ship it back. This is a job for a propeller shop. I believe this is your only option as the blades have to be balanced. If you put a used blade on this...

DA-20 C1 Trim switch on an A1?

I'd like to know if I can upgrade the control grip on my A1 to the C1 version with the built in trim switch? Wiring would be easy for my A&P. I have a standard airworthiness cert. Is there anyway to do this by the book? The trim switch position on the A1 makes it easy to accidentally damage it when ...

Re: 1090mhz ADS-B / noise cancelling Headset noise.

I believe that is your transponder transmitting when it is interrogated. This is what I've experienced. I've got the once per few second click coming from my transponder/ GDL-82. The avionics shop that installed the ADS-B told me everyone is dealing with the noise. The noise is more noticeable if I...

Re: DA-20 is no longer offered

I emailed Diamond about the DA-20 and they responded that they are planning on restarting production. They didn't say when. I'd like to contact Diamond of Austria and ask them to consider producing it in Europe. The DA-20 is one of the best single engine aircraft available to this day.

Throttle position at idle?

Has anyone heard of the throttle at idle not resting on the rear stop? My A&P said the prior mechanic did not adjust the throttle cable properly, however it WAS on the rear stop and I was getting WOT full power. I haven't flown it since he adjusted it the other day. I have yet to check the Diamond m...

Anyone install a GDL-82 in a DA-20 yet?

Has anyone with a DA-20 installed the GDL-82 and can advise on the best location to mount the box? I would like to mount it under the transponder but it would necessitate a mounting bracket. A friend of mine is an A&P and said that a mounting bracket can't be fabricated for certified aircraft... If ...

Re: The grass isn't always greener...

The biggest limitation for me with my DA-20 is speed. Its just too slow. A few years ago before I bought my DA-20 there were several DA-40's for sale for under 75K. You might go fly a DA-40 and see if you like it. I've priced out a Garmin G3X at around $15k installed. You still won't be able to fly ...

Re: What Tug to Get

Diamond said not to pull it from the tail tie down. The person I bought my DA-20 from had been winching it from the tail tie down for years... I would highly recommend a tug that the nose wheel sits in rather than the type that pushes on the the wheel faring tabs or wheel axle Airplane tug IMG_5525....
