Re: The New Garmin GI 275 Attitude Indicator (AI/ADI)

These products don't really compete with each other. The 275 is at least twice the price, it has a touchscreen, wifi, synthetic vision, and is a far more capable device. Also the 275 is actually shipping. uAvionics seems to be ignoring emails leaving support in question.

Re: DA42 Purchase

An extra 10 knots of airspeed gained by running the engines harder only gets you to your destination 12 minutes earlier on a 4-hour flight. But because your miles-per-gallon is worse at higher power settings, it costs you more in fuel and also reduces your range. But it costs you more in non-fuel h...

Do you know if this would apply to a -VI? In an aircraft with Iridium, XM, 345R a FlightStream would (I think) allow wireless connectivity to all three, so that's a bummer.

Re: DA42 Purchase

I won't give you an all in, inclusive cost, but can shed some light on Austro/DA42-VI ownership: A few items outside of Continentals/Lycomings that are required: -HPPs (high pressure fuel pumps): these are $2900 each (x2 needed) every 600 hours -gearbox inspections: ~ 30 hours of time for ~$3000 at...

Re: DA42 Purchase

How did you arrive at 2.5%? I'm sure I'm missing something but I can't derive that from your chart. The linear regression give you about 200k depreciation over 10 year, which is approx. 25% of the price of a „like new“ DA42 (not factoring in the „factory surcharge for picking colors and extras“) of...

Re: DA42 Purchase

Your insurance estimate is high. We insured our DA42-VI with a $800K hull value and a pilot on the policy with fewer hours for about $6K ($1 million smooth). AVEMCO always seems to quote rates twice as high as other underwriters of Diamond aircraft insurance. Be sure to work with a broker who is fa...

Re: DA42 Purchase

Hangar, capital cost, insurance, etc. clearly depend on your personal situation. There rest feels about right to me. Depreciation appear to be a bit low, if you look at asking prices at this very moment: To me it looks more like 2.5% including engine and prop reserves; both of which are not that ba...

DA42 Purchase

Another pilot and I are considering purchasing a DA42 in a partnership. I've read every post in the 42 forums and hope I could get your insights on a few additional questions I haven't seen discussed yet (apologies in advance if I've missed a thread). This would be our first aircraft purchase. - Sin...

Re: DA42 st KRVS this morning!

I am looking for a possible 42 partner in Denver area. Join POA, there is a recent threads on DA-42 there where I believe there was another Denver pilot looking for a DA-42 partner. Tim That was me, we are indeed looking for a partner in probably an NG at either KAPA or KBJC. I will send you a PM A...
