Re: I-70 Across Continental Divide

Has anyone flown further south from Pueblo, along US50 across Monarch pass then Gunnison, Montrose, Grand Junction? Monarch pass is 11,300. Yes, many times: it’s a beautiful part of the state. It all depends on the weather, particularly the winds aloft and, of course, the cloud conditions. Steve, E...

Re: Round the Rockies

Max Trescott's suggestion for mountain waves and turbulence is to use the vertical PIT mode instead of ALT mode. The plane rides the waves, while keeping you on course laterally. Less tiring than hand flying, but may require some correction if you are consistently too far from your assigned altitude.

Re: Tug for DA40 NG

I had an A2 or A3 for my 40NG and it was fine with plenty of power. You have to pull and replace the little pin out of the forks each time, but it worked just fine. I have a B5 for my 62 and it would be totally excessive for the 40NG. I had two issues with the Alpha: - Mine did not have an automatic...

Why wouldn't service availability for the Delta Hawk be even less than the Austro?

Re: Lack of speed indications

The icing could have been on the static side. Does the 42NG have heated static ports? Did you try switching to the alternate static?

Re: G1000 dead end (split from G1000 NXi Phase III)

Also unfortunately, the G3X AML for the DA-40 also has an explicit limitation: (2) Excluding aircraft equipped with Garmin G1000 If I take it out, is it still equipped? ;) I think the bogey man there is that "equipped with" really means" "certified with". Diamond and Garmin...

Re: Gascolator inspection

In five years of flying the 40NG and DA62, I have never seen anything when sumping the tanks or the gascolators. I actually added water to the sample vessel one time to make sure I knew what it would look like if it was in my sample. I'm usually in a hangar, and I put fuel cap covers over the filler...

I went back to my 2019 DA40NG which had the same Phase II hardware five years ago. It also had 5.15D. Nothing has changed from my DA40NG in 2019 to my DA62 in 2024.

My memory is that the pedals needed to be moved aft for the gust lock.
