Re: Low gearbox oil level

SPIRAX S6 GXME 75W-80 is approved for the Austro gearbox. AustroEngine customer support provided a quick answer. It's on page 3-10 of the Austro Operation Manual (E4.01.01).  It's also on page 2-9 of the DA40NG AFM.  This information has not been updated on the Austro Maintenance manual on page 85-1...

Re: Low gearbox oil level

I have a DA40NG, and I'm having some gearbox oil seepage that appears to be coming from the drain plug (see photo). I'm planning to have the mechanic who did my (first) 100-hour service repeat the key elements of the gearbox-related procedures and top off the oil level. This means having to purchase...

Re: G1000NXi - The Missing Features

Dave, FWIW, I propose we use the term ' update ' to refer to things that are implemented in new G1000 or G1000 NXI software releases, and " upgrades " to things which involve new (or substitute) hardware and associated software. Enabling 3D audio or enabling the full set of FIS-B weather products wo...

Re: G1000NXi - The Missing Features

Hi Dave, my DA40NG with NXI Phase II resets to 1200 when the electric master power is cycled OFF and then ON as you describe. I consider this a feature. At my home airport (KADS), we always land with an assigned squawk code when the tower is operational (VFR or IFR). The 1200 'automatic reset' keeps...

Re: G1000NXi - The Missing Features

Emir, you may be right, particularly if one believes there never can be (nor should be) ROI from supporting customers. I don't subscribe to this point of view, so I'm interested in understanding the things that unnecessarily increase the cost of support, i.e. certification costs of updates (SW) and ...

Re: G1000NXi - The Missing Features

I would like to know what hoops Transport Canada (TC) makes Diamond jump through to "certify" software updates to the G1000 series and whether or not there are different levels of requirements for different categories of updates (or upgrades). If TC certification requirements treat "enabling 3D audi...

Re: DA40 NG Delivery - Taxable in Canada?

Hi Scott, I hope you'll take advantage of your visit to London to get a factory tour and see how your airplane was constructed. Tony Boros gives a great tour! The acceptance process is two parts. The first is a physical inspection with a member of the sales team. The second is an acceptance flight w...

Re: What circuit breaker is the Hobbs meter generally connected to on DA40s?

The Hobbs meter works differently on the DA40NG (Austro diesel). It runs when the Engine Master switch is on, even if the engine is not running.

Re: The G1000 project - "The next step"

It's likely going to come to a matter of economics, i.e. how much is an owner willing to invest/spend to upgrade the avionics in their airplane relative to the current market value and the expected market value after an upgrade. This may be regionally dependent, e.g. depending on the 'value' of thin...

Juan, which version of the Jet Shades did you purchase, the regular or 'premium'?
