Re: Austro engine reliability and safety

I think two different accidents are being discussed in parallel. I'm not sure which one involves a takeoff into IMC.

Re: DA62 USB Ports

My DA-62 (delivered last year) has USB-C but the power output is certainly not PD. It barely charges my ipad when it's on and connected to connext/foreflight with the screen on. It does, however, prevent the ipad from discharging so it's still useful. One of the things I was reminded about on a rec...

Re: Leaseback Agreement

Are there other similarly configured DA40-XLS airplanes at the school? This can affect scheduling and availability for your training. Once your plane goes on the flight line, it will require the equivalent of an annual inspection every 100 hours, something not required for personal use and training....

Re: Leaseback Agreement

Why are you considering this?
How much do you fly your plane per year?
What year was your plane built? Lycoming or Austro?
Who performs your maintenance?

Re: run up button

I'll go out on a limb and ask if you're using the ENGINE page to make sure all temperatures are in the green. The gearbox temperature is often the last one to warm up, and it isn't visible in the "regular" engine information display. The test button won't initiate the ECU test cycle if all...

Re: Rear Door departs a DA40 after takeoff

The AFM specifically states the rear door is to be unlocked in flight. It’s emergency egress. And it would be totally irresponsible if you have rear seat passengers. There is no way to unlock it from inside. The current production DA40NG (and presumably DA40) canopy and door latches can be opened f...
