Re: Extended Fuel Tank Upgrade
Only have DA42 of that age that already came with Aux tanks - they're nice to have of course as they give you more flexibility, and allow for some return flights without having to grab fuel for the way back. But I'm not sure if the costs of adding them after the fact (which of course includes adding...

Re: Constant Speed Propeller
I think the control manipulation order is the same on all constant prop planes:
- Increase power: Right to left (T/P/M <--)
- Decrease power: Left to Right (--> T/P/M)

Re: GFC 700 upgraded TDI question
If the engines are still the same as before the upgrade then the v-speeds shouldn't have changed, but if the upgrade was to NG (i.e. including CD-->Austro) then some minor v-speed changes are possible/likely. In any case, the gear-related speed placards should obviously be in sync with the updated d...

AD 2018-10-10
Does anyone know if there is a light at the end of the tunnel with re: to the AD 2018-10-10 every flippin 25 hours..?
It bugs me that this is inhibiting long/multi-day XC flights, and I'd be happy to pay for a permanent fix.

Re: SUN VISORS
I've had Diamond's kit installed on one DA42, and will soon have another 42 upgraded with it. The shades are invaluable on bright days. Installation takes a couple days, involves slight reduction of canopy max opening angle (don't ask me why) and bonding time of the ceiling that holds the shades. Pa...

Re: The G1000 project - "The next step"
Really? I get it. So results don’t matter. You really, really tried hard, put together a five star team of participants to present your concerns, requests to Diamond hierarchy and you have absolutely nothing to show for it other than platitudes. I understand, you have no concrete results of what yo...

Re: G1000 - Red X Madness
Had that problem yesterday - X’ed out fuel quantity and temp, Voltage/Amperage and also missing annunciations.
Recycling master sometimes fixed it, but mostly not. Reseating the GEA71 behind the PFD fixed the issue.

Re: Left Turning Tendency on the Ground
P-factor can still be a noticeable factor on the ground, especially if you taxi slightly uphill and need more power. Careful use of slightly differential engine power (i.e. use a bit more of the left engine than the right one) should be more effective though than a lot of right rudder while taxiing ...

Re: Alternate air related load drop
Not sure, just thinking if perhaps a difference in software version on the ECUs could be causing it - just speculation. I guess looking at the ECU data makes sense. Since you flew through icing, perhaps a difference in how much TKS gets to the prop and wing parts on the affected side vs the other s...
