Thank you

How do you thank a forum en masse? I can’t keep track of the number of tips, advice and useful information I’ve found on this forum. I’ve tried to give back with my posts but obviously I’ll never be able to repay my debt. People talk about how well the DA40 flies, how good it looks, how safe it is (...

Re: Tail tiedown hook

Yes. I neglected to say that the extra wide 5/16th is no longer available from Amazon. The link was meant to illustrate what a D shackle is. It took me a long while to figure out what the hardware I was searching for is called. I have 5/16 that work. In any event, it is a good looking and easy to at...

Re: Tail tiedown hook

I use a stainless D shackle available from a marine supply store or amazon Something like: https://www.amazon.com/Stainless-Steel-Shackle-Marine-Grade/dp/B07KYYDRWZ/ref=pd_sbs_200_t_0/144-2267885-1108336?_encoding=UTF8&pd_rd_i=B07KYYDRWZ&pd_rd_r=e94eaf66-b18c-4ef8-8b84-9c208d2a41da&pd_rd_w=4cZq8&pd_...

Re: Updating 430W/530W databases

I assumed the chips are from upgrades. But there are WAAS chips in the jar as well. Not new but saved me the hassle. I’m not sure generous is the right word as I’ve spent a fair amount on installs of the 345 and G5, but I am grateful. $200 or $245 for a memory card that holds under 32MB is my idea o...

Re: Updating 430W/530W databases

Wow, I didn’t realize they were so expensive. The chips that is. My avionics shop really does have a jar of them. My 430 card went bad and I just burned a new chip out of the jar about a year ago. The tech volunteered that this has been a problem. They are a high volume Garmin dealer. Obviously, we ...

Re: Updating 430W/530W databases

When I got my plane in 2017, I did my homework and found Jepp was slightly cheaper than Garmin as Rich did. I just pull the chips monthly and update on my iMac. I figure that the Sierras have pretty much stayed the same so I don’t need terrain updates. I’ve read about Elf Wombat but don’t see much d...

Re: Air in the tire without removing fairing

I use a 10 mm nut driver for the valve cap which I throw into my plane toolkit.

Re: PIREP on DA40 Supercharged Performance

Could those with experience comment on what cowling mods are required to install FAT supercharger? I couldn’t find anything about this on the FAT website.

Thx!!!

Re: Air in the tire without removing fairing

I find that, with a 1.5 inch valve extender, I can attach my compressor hose screw in fitting to either fill the tire or take the pressure. Of course, you have to roll the wheel very precisely to center the valve in the middle of the wheel fairing hole. This makes the process much more tedious than ...

Re: The next stuff

I added the G5 with a form 337 approval from the VNY FSDO. No problem at all.

Both the DA40 and SR22 are not on the AML. This is absurd given the popularity of both planes.
