Re: Power Flow

I have powerflo with ceramic coating. After about 250 hours, the last 10 inches are still shiny but farther up the barrel the coating has darkened. Slight improvement with polishing with Flitz. Insert still looks in good shape.

Re: Red X's on PFD....

Wayne

400 hrs a year or 8 hours per week! Wow, that is a lot of flying. I’m impressed.

My turn coordinator gyro is very noisy in the six pack. I’m told that this may be a sign of impending failure. original instrument from 2002 with about 1400 hours on it. Anyone have experience on this?

Thx

Re: MSB for 2017-19 fuel tank connection hoses

Rich and others What I understand from this thread is that certain newer hoses are defective. I also saw that Rich had his replaced at his 2018 annual. I wonder why. Were those hoses leaking? I thought that it is no longer recommended that the hoses be replaced except on condition— ie failure. Do I ...

Slick Start

I follow the diamond AFM for both cold and hot starts. I’ve never had a problem with starts. Starts within 2-3 prop revolutions. In the last month or so, I’ve been having trouble with both cold and hot starts. Now I have to crank longer before I feel the engine catch. When I release the start switch...

Camlock replacement

One of the Camlocks on my cowling had to be replaced because it no longer held or locked. it turns out that the base was severely worn. The photo below shows the base. If you think of the two rivets as W and E, then there are two "slots" (think intersecting runways) in the base. There should only be...

Re: Major Engine Overhaul

There is a highly respected school of thought that says If The plane is flown regularly Plane lives in a dry climate No metal in oil filter Oil analysis is good Borescoping of cylinders show no abnormalities Then you should not overhaul. Not required for part 91 operators. It is not clear that overh...
