Re: Erratic Manifold pressure

Sounds like a loose connection, bad sending unit, bad ground or similar causing the gauge to display an incorrect reading. If you were truly getting power surges of that magnitude it would manifest itself distinctly. First thing I would try is turning the master on and wiggling the wires. Have someb...

Re: Buying Advice / Pre-buy Inspection Recommendation

If you are 6'2" or taller make sure you spend some time in it with the canopy latched. There are a few out there with seat/canopy combinations that will not allow us taller folks to sit upright. Based on my personal experience it doesn't take long for your seating position to become painful. Ju...

Re: Why We Removed The Supercharger

…feels as though we did not disclose any of what he sees as the drawbacks adequately which is something that we always try to do. The lower cowling *cannot* be removed or installed without detaching the spinner. This is not documented in the supercharger installation instructions, ICA, or AFM suppl...

Curious, what is the max temp rise due to compression with your solution?

Tim
Tim,

80° is the maximum temperature rise over OAT under the least favorable conditions. That is achieved at 7000' +/- and would be lower both above and below.

Re: Why We Removed The Supercharger

. . . This said, the reports show that none of the supercharged planes are able to exploit full sea level MP beyond take-off without hitting excessive CHT. What is your take on this Ian? . . . I suppose the best place to start is the extreme end and dial back from there. The FAA testing we are requ...

Re: Why We Removed The Supercharger

I want to say clearly that my only intent going forward is to understand, not point fingers. . . . Your intent is understood and I (hopefully nobody else either) have not taken issue with anything you have said here. I appreciate the open dialog. . . . A small correction to Ian quoting me: "it...

Wow! I think Forced Aeromotive need to be given an opportunity to respond before conclusions are drawn... . . . We are saddened that he feels as though we did not disclose any of what he sees as the drawbacks adequately which is something that we always try to do. We spent a great deal of time on t...

Re: Why We Removed The Supercharger

. . . - of course I agree that 60-80 F of extra inlet air temperature is significant. I think I was among the first here to raise the issue. . . . It is worth noting that the 60-80° IAT rise is the peak for a given flight. Any reduction of RPM or throttle position lowers that temperature. I think y...

Link doesn't work. Is it incomplete or something? Sorry. Missing "https://" https://bit.ly/wam-sc-pirep Thanks. Unfortunately there aren't any references to the specifics of baffle changes. Something I could use in light of my observed Surefly behavior, if there are some changes that woul...

Re: Bound mixture cable engine failure

I have encountered this exact symptom with a similar solution on one DA-40 in the past. Fortunately it was discovered promptly after startup. It took a fair amount of trial and error tracing down the root cause. In the end the bracket in your picture was partially rotated to improve alignment with t...
