Re: XPlane Simulated ForeFlight and FlightStream Syncing

When using ForeFlight/Garmin FlightStream they must have provided a more complete version, but for the export feature it is limited.
I have no doubt that a FlightStream "share to panel" from Foreflight is very different than the file being shared in the simple XML of the .fpl file. What I find ...

Testing 1.1.1

Foreflight .
1. No change to the export/import of STAR and approach. Still expands the STAR into it's component waypoints. Just to check, I did a separate flight plan with a SID. Same result. The procedure expanded into it's component waypoints. One thing I noticed ...

I used to work for a financial software company where I was famous for finding ways to break it during early testing.

Re: XPlane Simulated ForeFlight and FlightStream Syncing

Just ran a few iterations. Here's what I have.

1. The transfer works with the XP12 stock pseudo G1000 and GNS. It does not work with the Reality XP GTN.
2. It does not work with Garmin Pilot (I have both GP and Foreflight). That's just because the GP export file content is different. As you know ...

Re: Switching tanks before take-off

Mine is the same as already mentioned. Start on one tank. Switch to the other before runup. When before runup should be after enough time for the first tank to indicate a problem. Takeoff is on the runup tank.

Re: XPlane Simulated ForeFlight and FlightStream Syncing

Edit: just saw your post about the broken share option. I do get Share in Foreflight, but Flight Stream X is not am available option.

Are you able to share the flight plan with app? You may have to click more and find the app the first time you share from Foreflight.

First, I didn't realize ...

Re: XPlane Simulated ForeFlight and FlightStream Syncing

What am I supposed to see? I see you mention something about cleaning the UI. What UI? Here's my steps and the result.

Download the app through Testflight
Start the app.
Get the prompt about connecting and say yes.

Results:
Blank page saying "Flight Stream X" at the top, "Beacon:" with a local IP ...

Re: Sun shades in the DA-40

Mark, what in ear headset are you using? Noise not a real issue, huh?

I’m flying with an Axis. Lots of options for ear tips, from the Comply “canal” tips the Clarity Aloft uses to the 3M used by the QT Halo (and audiologists), and a few compatible other brands.

Noise in a DA40 is always an ...

Re: Sun shades in the DA-40

I have some stick-on shades but the most effective solution for me has been moving to an in-ear headset so I can wear a big floppy hat. Made a big difference. (iPad has never been a problem.)

Re: What should air traffic control call a DA 40?

I flew my first DA40 23 years ago. In all that time, I don’t think I’ve ever used or heard (although I can’t say I’ve listened for it) anything other than simply “Diamond.” IFR, the “DA40” is in the flight plan. For VFR flight following, I give them or they ask for the DA40 type. The only reasons ...
