Re: electric artificial horizon maintenance
"integration with Garmin with ADS-B In (I have GDL88) and KAP140 for GPS Steering which is much more responsive to wind correction and turns than NAV mode and gives more autopilot functionality." I'm not 100% sure about this but I don't think a GI275 set up as an AI will provide roll steer...

Re: electric artificial horizon maintenance
Mine was slow to erect a couple of years ago so I bought an overhaul exchange and have been happy. I think it was about $2K. I also have a Dynon D3 IA mounted to the cutout to the right of the altimeter when I’m going to be in IMC. Make sure the backup battery to the Diamond IA has a solid connectio...

Re: Low fuel pressure... again
My Diamond Service Center told me that VM 1000 transducers are available from Diamond, but there can be a delay if they have to order them. My Savvy consultant told me that JPI produces the transducers and Diamond gets the them from JPI. I can’t verify any of this. It’s just what I’ve heard. I hope ...

Re: IO-360 with intermittant oil pressure reading
The other difference between the G1000 sensors and the VM1000 sensors is that the VM1000 sensors/transducers are less expensive. They’re available through Diamond and supplied to Diamond by JPI.

Re: Loose blades found in annual
How exactly is a loose blade tightened? Does it involve opening the hub? Can someone explain how the blade “preload” is achieved? I had a MTV-12-B loose blade repaired a few years ago but I’m not sure exactly what MT did. Steve Sennett at RPX Technologies is helpful if you have DynaVibe or general p...

Re: Hourly cost of maintaing a Diamond DA40
I agree with Rich. It's hard to plan too much regarding the costs, except to know that they will be there, so it would be helpful to be ready for them. Someone wise once told me to buy a less expensive, but well maintained, plane so that I'll have funds left over for the ongoing expenses. I would ad...

Re: Inside Rear Window Scratch - Help on Repair?
I had the same thing happen to mine in 2023 after the rear seat was removed for maintenance. Unfortunately I didn't notice it until the next spring and I didn't make a claim with the shop. The same shop, however, buffed it out at my next annual and it looks perfect. The cost was 1 hr of labor - $120.

Re: Ceramic Coating for DA-40 NG
Has anyone put ceramic on an older plane? Mine is a 2003 with some chips, nicks and scratches, mostly on the cowling and leading edges. I would say that the luster is reduced by about 50% from a new plane, but it shines up nicely with Klasse polymer coating applied 2x per year. It's hangared. Based ...

Re: IO-360 with intermittant oil pressure reading
A number of years ago I used to rent a G1000 DA40. On one long flight home I got low fuel pressure readings, but not to zero, and the readings were relatively steady. I heard that the mechanic swapped the sensor with another one and found that the sensor was bad. It was replaced and the cost was not...

Re: Engine overhaul time - Lycoming IO-360-M1A
Do you know if Penn Yan used new Lycoming cylinders or did they overhaul the old ones. They advertise that they are very good at cylinder overhaul. I’m wondering if new cylinders are becoming more available. The price seems good compared to a factory reman engine. Enjoy your new plane!
