Re: DA50 vs The World

I don’t think the gearbox main issue, rather the stall behavior. The Diamonds are all behaving a lot more predictable and robust in base-to-final turns. That’s unfortunately a very typical Cirrus accident  ( Check out the video in the link )

Re: Diamond Pilots Association 2023 Survey

I fully agree here. You should have the email contact from the survey. Just send it out to everyone who participated. I’m ok if it’s not public. Ed - The point is that this was not advised at the time. Anyone spending his or her time to complete the survey has a right to see the final survey result....

Re: DA62 Options Selection

Here would be my thoughts: Honeywell KN 63 remote DME - must have Becker 3500 remote ADF - not useful in Europa WX500 Stormscope - not useful if weather radar+GSR56 is installed Avidyne TAS 605 traffic advisory system - must have Garmin GWX 70 weather radar - must have Garmin GSR 56 Iridium satellit...

Re: Austro Dongle with M1 Macs

The new MacOS which will be released in fall has an Apple-made Game Emulation with DirectX 12 support based in Wine. Looks like even games like Diablo4 can run an M1/M2 macs, maybe this solves the issue with the G1000NXI Trainer!?

Re: Cross Alternator Start

I start the right engine with left at idle and I think there is a good reason to do this and not raise the power to 20% on the left engine: Imagine the battery would broken and barely manages to start the left engine and it would alone not be able to start the right engine you would hide a potential...

Re: Austro Dongle with M1 Macs

I have an M1 mac and a dongle, however I have not tried to use it with Windows 11 under Parallels. I assume it should work, because Windows completely emulates x86 and x64 architectures and the AustroEngine software doesn’t need a lot of computational resources. We actually put a cheap windows 10 la...

Re: DA40NG radio calls sound like underwater

I know this effect if you have tuned both radios to the same frequency and both are also activated in the audio panel. You basically hear everything twice with a minimal delay so that it sounds a bit like „underwater“…

Re: DA62 road landing in Dallas, Texas

I’m happy that no one was hurt! I think mis-fueling as mentioned in the comments under the report is highly unlikely since the low pressure fuel pump circulates several gallons per minute to the engine an back and therefore mis-fueled austros shouldn’t make it to the runway. At least that’s what I u...

Re: G1000 Nxi Phase II questions

Hi! No, you can register many different devices with the Fs510. At least that’s the case in the DA62, but I’m sure it’s the same. I think what Garmin means in their manual is that only two devices can be connected and online at the same time. That is rarely an issue as you can supply pilot and copil...

Re: DA40 NG engine shut down question

At least at the Diamond Factory Training I got told to be stringent with the 10% and resetting the cool down time. It seems that a very short amount of time is enough to heat up the turbo charger again. They also said that taxi time below 10% can be counted as cool down time, so typically I would ta...
