Re: DA62, one year of bittersweet ownership
Unfortunately, Brian, my plane (62.220) was built in Austria. The advantage of an Austrian-built airplane is that you get about 20 extra hours of flight time prior to delivery to identify and shake out issues. And indeed, I flew it for six months with basically no issues … still waiting on parts ...

Re: DA62, one year of bittersweet ownership
Thanks for posting. I’m not going to post details, but my DA62 (still under warranty) is in its 7th month of AOG due to various issues that kept it at the service center from early December until May, where it went to the factory in Canada; waiting for some parts from Europe right now but we are ...

Re: B-17 Bombardier
Thanks for posting! I had the privilege of flying in the Liberty Belle B17 several years ago before she was lost in 2011 to a post-incident fire. And I love the Sentimental Journey - ran into her at Ryan Field in Tucson while the CAF was doing proficiency training for the crew (I believe she is ...

Re: Price List
Just browsing that price list quickly, it looks like a higher spec DA62 for 2025 delivery will be in the $1.8 mm USD range, plus or minus. You can obviously spend less but you could also spend more. However, that seems like a good ballpark for planning purposes.

Re: G1000 NXi Phase III
One of the problems is that the piston GA community includes people flying G6/G7 Cirri and $1.5 mm DA62s and other new or late model planes that cost as much as a nice house (let’s say 400-500k and up), and thousands of people flying older legacy pistons that don’t cost very much at all to purchase ...

Re: Business configuration (STC 62-002)
Very exciting - can’t wait to see it! It should be retrofittable to other 62s but I would imagine to do so would not be cheap… thanks and congrats!

Re: DA42 vs BeechA36 or Cirrus for long distance
I also flew a Piper M600 (basically a Meridian with a bigger wing and more fuel/range, plus a higher VMO of 251 KIAS). Loved it - we just sold it last November. The M600 and Meridian cabins are identical. The passenger cabin is REALLY comfortable in the Meridian … I loved being back there ...
