Re: Austro Engine MSB

OMG, this is a real bummer for many owners. Not only money wise but being AOG because of waiting for a new engine or parts. I am lucky, my 2 engines are not on the list. Do we know if affected engines were built in certain years. Can it happen with a 2022 engine ? I am also wondering if Diamond is ...

Re: Diesel smell in the cabin

I reported my “diesel smell” issue to my mx shop. They told me that this should not be normal. They will check the exhaust system when I drop the plane.
I will report back what they found.

Re: Diesel smell in the cabin

Thank you so much guys for your advise to drain the fuel. I will talk to my flight school. Draining the fuel is definitely part of the checklist of DA-62.

I remember that in one instance the line guy overfilled one wing tank, it was smelling even more.

Love our DA forum!

Re: Diesel smell in the cabin

Thank you both for our quick response. The smell is pertinent on all flights be it during a training flight or on a long x-c flight. To be honest, I was not taught to sample jet fuel. I don’t sample it with the Vision Jet either.

Diesel smell in the cabin

Hello everybody, Just finished my transition into the DA-62. I enjoy the plane very much with the exception of a fuel smell in the cabin. Even my cloth smells and I have to take a shower after each flight. I wonder if this is normal or is there any defect ? Thank you all for your insight. Stephan

Re: London Factory PIREP

Great factory pirep indeed. I just flew my new to me 2018 DA-62 today for the first time. It is such a joy to fly, particularly to hand fly. In the Cirrus, be it SR or Vision I was engaging the AP as soon as possible. Not so in the DA-62. If Diamond could "clean up" the cockpit, shorten th...

Re: What’s ahead for the DA-62

What's so hard about autothrottles? The power lever for an Austro is electronic already, connected only to the computer. Seems like the computer could be just as easily programmed to respond appropriately to an AutoLand button. A radar altimeter would needed. Brake by wire, not sure how that works ...

Re: What’s ahead for the DA-62

Good insights ED!
With no Auto throttles there will be no "safe home" either. Too bad, as this feature is a real "peace of mind" feature for my wife flying with me single pilot.
For now, I am excited to close on the DA-62 tomorrow and just fly her!
