Re: FLC for best glide in DA40NG?

I learned this on another plane. The technique is to put the auto pilot in heading mode and alt hold. While the speed is bleeding off set the heading bug to your desired course. Then turn the altitude knob down to zero. By this time you will be getting close to your best glide speed and when you rea...

Re: Cabin Heat when in hanger

I did this in my old plane. I put it in the luggage area behind the backseats. I had it on a timer Which I set the day before when I knew when I would be leaving the next day. I Found that I only needed to run it for 15 minutes and it warmed up the plane nicely.

Re: G1000 training CD

Thanks everyone. I will go ahead and order the CD. Glen I have those two apps- they are amazing. However, with I only have one ipad so you don't get the integration between the mfd and pfd.

G1000 training CD

Hi all, I'm just getting back into flying after 10 year hiatus and could use your help. I need to do some training on the G1000 to get used to the buttonology, particularly for IFR. I saw in an old thread that their was a Garmin training CD, but people said it didn't work on windows 10. Furthermore,...

Re: LED Landing / Taxi lights for the DA40

As PPL you are allowed to replace light bulbs. If it is a simple installation that should be okay. Consider replacing tires, it doesn't matter if it is a Goodyear or Michelin, it just needs to be same size and type. looking at the installation instructions for this LED it looks like some wiring is r...

Re: Diamond Share Experience

Russ, Andrew and Rick great information and feedback, sounds like if I want to go this route a DIY solution is better. Russ, I'm also in California. I would be interested to know your thoughts on the tax aspects of doing a dry lease situation. Russ, I'm also stumped figuring out what boat you are sa...

Diamond Share Experience

Wondering if anyone can give me feedback on their Diamond Share experience. On the surface it seems like a great way to buy a new plane and share the costs. I'm sure there are a bunch of negatives. What are your thoughts?

Re: What to insure For?

Yikes! I just looked at controller 150-200k seems crazy. In Europe there are at least 8 Katana 100's for sale with the highest price being 106,730 (average price 89k). Wonder what it would cost to ship one over?? Obviously, somewhat different aircraft but I'm a fan of Rotax engines. Vref says 44k fo...

Re: Winching in reverse from the Nose Gear?

I like the idea. Seems like nose gear should be more than tough enough (survives flight schools!). Just need to figure out how to have an even pull to keep nose gear straight.
