Re: MSB-E4-042 - Crankshaft-bearing cap screws replacement
wow! just got back from a week away from the computer.... Incredibly it looks like (feel free to be the one to spot otherwise) I've dodged the bullet again! My 2021 NG missed the "serial number sweep" for the previous HP Fuel pump mess and now seems to to have dodged this one as well. Unbe...

Re: Wax On Wax Off
I had my plane professionally ceramic coated 3 months ago... absolutely fantastic !!! It looks amazing, water just beads up and runs off. Bug shhmuk wipes off with one pass of a towel. Even inevitable Jet A spills from lineman don't seem to mark as bad. I've been absolutely thrilled with it. No dow...

Re: Ceramic Coating for DA-40 NG
Fred, for what it's worth I would definitely go professional. The lads that did mine took a little over two days and they worked their tails off, they had the right steps, crawlers and lights. All the correct tools and of course products. They also brought along a professional diligence that it had ...

Has anyone tried Cerakote ceramic paint sealant? It gets fantastic reviews. I had my plane professionally ceramic coated 3 months ago... absolutely fantastic !!! Re: Left alternator failed
I have the dongle, but I've never used it. Laziness. I need to learn all that. Besides allowing analysis of engine operating data, the Austro Wizard can clear latched errors. If upon restart, the latched error immediately returns, then it's probably a real problem rather than a transient error. Tha...

Re: DA40NG N907L forced landing on a highway
Wow surreal, I coincidentally flew my NG into Asheville the morning after this crash.... I heard the FBO folks discussing it at length, paid it little mind and went about my errand. Traffic was still backed up on I26, again I shrugged it off and went about my day. In the back of my mind I figured it...

Re: What states have no light aircraft sales tax
If you are bringing the aircraft back to Virginia, forget about it. VA has an overstaffed and well funded band of pirates that will find you!! LOL The state police aviation department needs to pay for their lavish quarters, aerobatic upset training (riddle me why helicopter pilots need this???) and ...

Re: Annual frustration
Dan, one thing you might consider is an advocacy service like Savvy?? For around $100 a year they'll talk to the shop doing your annual and call BS on anything they feel is extraneous. They might be a good reference for you on deferral items etc. As a rookie owner I felt like it was piece of mind ev...

Re: DA40 2023 starter engaged uncommanded during flight
Guys, I had the starter MSB done at SouthTec on Monday during a routine oil change (and sample of course). Mine too was wired incorrectly, I think they said it's the ground wire that has been misplaced. (its like drinking from the fire hose anytime I am there and the cowling is off ;) If it helps an...
