Yes, the box on the glare shield is the GPS antenna. It is part of the STC for using the GI275 as a backup instrument.

GI275 Install in 2007 DA40

Hi everyone! I just got my plane back from having a GI275 installed as a backup attitude indicator. I figure I'll share my experience incase it helps others. The work was done by Skyworld Aviation and Avionics at KHWY. Total cost including parts, labor, and supplies was $7500. It took Garmin 8 month...

New DA40 owner | First Plane | what are common mistakes?

Hello! New DA40 owner. I will be based in Northern Virginia (KHEF). Thanks to the forum members that commented on my pre-buy questions! Special thanks to Colin. What are common mistakes that new owners make? What do you wish you'd done differently in the first year or two you owned your plane? Thank...

Re: Looking for inspection tips for high time DA20

How fast is the C-1 with the mt prop? Power setting, alt, gph? I've been training in one and it likes to go along at 110knts at 1900rpm and 120knts at 2000rpm. 2200 rpm is around max throttle with the MT prop compared to ~2600 rpm with the sensenich propeller. I'm near sea level (home field is 200 ...

Recommendation for pre buy inspection in Scottsdale AZ

Hi, I'm looking at purchasing this DA40: https://www.controller.com/listing/for-sale/203454279/2007-diamond-da40-xl-piston-single-aircraft This will be my first aircraft purchase. I'm in Virginia and the plane is in Scottsdale. Can anyone recommend a good shop around Phoenix to do the pre buy inspec...

Re: Looking for inspection tips for high time DA20

Congrats on your first solo! A DA20 with 5000 hours has likely been subject to lots of student pilot abuse. I'd look for cracks in the composite, the canopy, gear legs, and for wingtip damage. But as you probably know, it's more important to pay for a pre-buy inspection by a reputable shop (that ha...

Re: Looking for inspection tips for high time DA20

I agree with Tim. You might be better off purchasing a DA40 now to complete your training, given that you want to go there in only a year. The DA40 is equally easy to fly, and it's always better to train in the same model plane that you intend to own. That's especially true if you're going to work ...

Looking for inspection tips for high time DA20

Hi! First post. I'm considering purchasing a DA20 with over 5000 hours TTAF. It will be my first aircraft purchase. Any tips on what to have checked out during the inspection that might otherwise be overlooked? Back story: I'm a student pilot learning to fly because (a) it's fun and (b) it will make...
