Re: Delta Hawk DHK180
I'm still curious to know what the gotchas are with these DH engines. The Velocity at Oshkosh seemed to have a smokey, protracted engine start... I think you've hit the nail on the head there. Every Detroit or EMD two-stroke diesel I've ever seen at startup does this, even the later developed versi...

Re: Delta Hawk DHK180
I do not really understand how it works; but will pass on what I recall from the videos I watched on the turbo/supercharger. But take it with a grain of salt at least. The supercharger is used for starting the engine or inflight restarts. As the turbo speeds up, the turbo pressurizes the chamber af...

Re: A bit more on CETC Wuhu Diamond's CA42 with AEC2.0L engines
The CR9 avionics look almost identical to the Avidyne R9. Maybe ODM or clone. I see what you mean. The switch gear and graphics appear identical. The DFC100 autopilot also looks very similar to the Avidyne DFC 90. I wonder what Diamond's gameplan is here? It would seem the AEC2.0L has been designed...

A bit more on CETC Wuhu Diamond's CA42 with AEC2.0L engines
CETC Wuhu Diamond has posted up a bit more on their DA42 derived CA42 fitted with AEC2.0L engines: http://www.cetcd.com/en/product/product1/9/9.html Listed performance is very close to that of a DA42-IV. The horsepower of the AEC2.0L is stated as 183 HP which if factual could indicate suitability an...

Re: Ghana Fund To Order 50 Diamond DA-62 Aircraft
"Dr Noskim Atidigah – President of Ghana Fund, stated that the choice of aircraft for the footprint operations was informed by the ability of the aircraft to use remote airstrips." DA40 Tundra might have been a better choice... The DA62 and DA40 Tundra use the same Beringer 22" 8.50 ...

Re: In flight cellular connectivity options
Has anyone tried a cell signal booster? Can probably buy one from Amazon for $200. I mounted one on a rooftop pole at a cabin in the woods with no prior cell service and it worked great. I wonder if it will boost the signal up high too. Caution though, it may not be good for you to sit close to it ...

Re: Diamond China announce its own 'independently designed' domestic aircraft diesel engine, the 'AEC2.0L'
Wouldn’t this engine need to be certified before being used in any EASA/TC/FAA certified airplane? The way I read it is that at least EASA have so far begun building a trust relationship with the Chinese aviation administration and certification organizations with the intent of eventually bringing ...

Re: Diamond China announce its own 'independently designed' domestic aircraft diesel engine, the 'AEC2.0L'
The Austrians are widely known as equal to their German engineer counterparts. Ferdinand Porsche was Austrian as I recall. Agreed, the quality might not be much different. Hardly a resounding vote of confidence, as you said "given the recent Austro issues". Then again, the new engine desi...

Re: Diamond China announce its own 'independently designed' domestic aircraft diesel engine, the 'AEC2.0L'
A Chinese made knock off of an Austro diesel. Sign me up. Hope these don’t become the TBR replacement engines down the road. We're going to find out soon enough, for sure. It's been over seven years in development from a clean sheet and looks designed to fit straight into an Austro form-factor with...
