Just to throw another method in the ring that is slightly different. I will typically cruise at 2300 RPM and set the MP roughly based on the interpolated book value for the altitude. Then lean via lean assist for peak egt or by feel for roughness then a tiny bit richer, generally lands you in the ...

I've done a handful in my DA40. I Look for missions with 1-2 people, ~350lbs, ~250nm, plenty of opportunities for doing some good.

I used to land and taxi at night with both lights on. Then one burned out as I came in and it was really dark. At the next annual I did
OSB40-077. I think that got me Wheelen LED’s. It wasn’t very
expensive and the new lights are more than adequate in my
opinion.
