Re: electric artificial horizon maintenance

I've got an AV30C which works great. I really like it, and it provides a backup airspeed and altitude indicator.

Re: White Wire Annunciator - Should it Beep?

Luckily, this was an easy fix. You can see a slightly corroded pin in the picture. I’m fairly certain that’s the audio output one. I got it cleaned up a bit, and now I enjoy the sweet serenade of dings when things go wrong.

Thanks all!

Re: White Wire Annunciator - Should it Beep?

Lol. Missing the acknowledge button would definitely be irritating 😂

Thanks for the input! I might pop the glare shield off and look around in there to see if there's a loose wire. It's also really good to know about the volume adjustment! I'll have to play with it.

White Wire Annunciator - Should it Beep?

I've got a 2003 DA40 (pre-G1000), so it has the White Wire annunciator panel. When an annunciator goes off, like low oil pressure or low amps for instance, I'd really like an audible tone through my headset, but my annunciator gizmo seems to disagree with that sentiment. It will flash, but it doesn'...

Re: Thoughts on a 2004/2005 DA-40

Get a 2003 like mine! No G1000 to worry about, so you have total flexibility with avionics upgrades. The only issue is that the KAP-140 is the only available autopilot, and it's getting pretty old. Parts and expertise to fix it are more difficult to find.

Re: DA62 Rear Seats

As far as I can tell, there is an FAA approved version of the 62-002 STC. It directly references back to the EASA version, so I don’t see a reason Diamond wouldn’t sell the 4/6 seat version in the USA. Re: Prebuy fresh out of Annual?

I worked with Take Flight for mine as well. Ryan was great to work with and found all sorts of things that needed fixing. If I hadn’t done that, I would’ve been on the hook for a rather large maintenance bill.

Re: Winter Baffles

Apologies for resurrecting an ancient thread, but if anyone has unneeded winter baffles, I’d love to buy them off you. Thanks!

Wanted: DA-40 Winter Baffle(s)

Hey all, if any of you have an unneeded set of the 40’s winter baffles laying around, I’d love to buy them off you. Now that I’ve got my 40, it’s very difficult to keep the oil temp above 170 or so when it’s cold outside. I definitely need the oil cooler baffle, but I’d also like to have the cabin a...

Re: Older DA 40 Wanted as First Airplane

Nick, I really appreciate it, but I've actually just closed on a 2003 DA40. I got a very good deal on it, and I can't wait to go pick it up!
