Re: New owner insurance rates on DA42 NG?

-1.5% of Hull Value for Moderately Pilots (500 - 1,000TT) with with PRIV, INST, ME (for DA62/42) Any age caveats on these rates? If we're paying more than this, what are our options? Yes, there are age variants around 70+ years old for rates and liability limits but the market has slowly started to...

Re: New owner insurance rates on DA42 NG?

Hey Guys, I did a Diamond Aircraft Insurance Buyers Guide earlier this year that should help you make estimates for where your insurance rates should be based on experience and Pilot licenses. https://sunsetais.com/airplanes/diamond/ -1% of Hull Value for Experienced Pilots (over 1,000TT) with PRIV,...

Re: Insurance

This is how W Brown's BasicMed Pilot Warranty reads. They are a very good option for BasicMed. PILOTS: When in flight the aircraft will be piloted only by the following pilots, provided each has a valid pilot's certificate including a current and valid medical certificate appropriate for the flight ...

Re: Insurance

Hi Guys, Here's my Guide to estimating insurance rates for each type of Diamond. So far in 2023 we have seen rates for renewal relatively flat to small increases, as compared to 2021 - 2022 (some increases for pilots over 70). The Diamonds have slightly higher insurance rates than a Cirrus because o...

Re: Buying a first aircraft help

What would you estimate for annual insurance/maintenance costs? An easy way to estimate or visualize the premium for a Diamond Aircraft is: 1%, 1.5%, 2%, and 3% - 1% of the hull value for experienced pilots with a Private and Instrument, less than 70 years old, less than 3 named pilots, single owne...

Re: Anti Spam Policy

What about posting an article I wrote to help 70 year old pilots better understand the aircraft insurance market? I recently tried to make this post and it wasn't allowed.

Re: New here, insurance question

I think any additional qualifications you can add to your resume will help, including a Multi Commercial. Although in a hard market like we're in right now be may be less of a discount then you'd think. If anything you may get additional underwriters to quote if the rest of the details align like - ...

Re: New here, insurance question

I recently did a Diamond Aircraft Insurance Guide for 2022, estimating rates for each type of operation and actual quotes we have been providing Diamond owners. So far in 2022 we have seen rates pretty flat, some increases, and some decreases for pilots that started with a Private and now have an In...

Insurance Advice for 70 Year Old Pilots

There's an aviation saying that goes - There are OLD pilots, and there are BOLD pilots, but there are no OLD BOLD pilots. When it comes to aviation insurance, underwriters utilize large data sets to determine their risk exposure for a given policyholder. Pilots 70 years and older often face steep ra...

Re: Diamond Insurance

Ben - two questions: 1/ what is the lowest % of hull value quoted across your client base. 2/ what are the minimum requirements to qualify for that lowest rate? Vickers, 1. The lowest I've seen for Diamond aircraft is 0.8% of the hull value for a DA62. Rates are a sliding scale so the higher the hu...
