Re: DA40NG - First year of ownership update

The vibration could be from tires that are out of round... easily caused by lots of touch and gos with hard breaking and other low hour pilot time stuff... (My airplane has had a hard way to go with tires... ) IFR = ASAP!!! most important thing you can do (in my opinion) Im curious how many hours y...

Re: DA40NG - First year of ownership update

Bunch of random issues with the nosewheel as I had the AME look it over every time it was in service to get to the bottom of the vibration issue. - Castoring fork was loose. Tightened, no effect on vibrations. - Steering stop was bent - likely mishandling by the ground crew when towing. Was fixed an...

DA40NG - First year of ownership update

My background: Licensed since 2009 (PPL, night, multi). Didn't do much flying until 2022 as keeping rental currency was a pain in the ass, and I could only stand so many "sightseeing flights". Had ~150hrs TT before 2022. Flew buddy's SR22T for a couple dozen hours while waiting for deliver...

Re: MSB-E4-042 - Crankshaft-bearing cap screws replacement

Just picked up my plane from the shop. Was told that total work time was ~15hrs. They had to source engine sealant from a local Benz dealership.

Re: MSB-E4-042 - Crankshaft-bearing cap screws replacement

Just spoke to the AME, apparently they still lack the exact instructions on how to proceed, which are being revised right now by the factory.

I was told this is going to be ~20hrs of labor for a DA40.

MSB-E4-042 - Crankshaft-bearing cap screws replacement

Get ready folks, this is about to get issued. Seems to affect most/all E4 Series engines. Occurrences of E4 series engines have been reported recently. Investigation of the occurrences has shown in some cases the failure of one inner main bearing screw. Subsequent investigations have determined that...

Jumping oil pressure

Hey folks, I got just ~20hrs in a new DA40NG, and on my last (well, first ever) cross country I notice the oil pressure indicator jumping around by +/-0.2 from 4.7 bar. It's mostly +/- 0.1, but sometime hits 0.2. This happens multiple times a second, so the "needle" on the G1000 swings wil...

Re: Electronic checklist update voodoo

Alan, you are a genius. I just tried your flow and it worked. First ON -> N/A checklist on startup screen Second ON -> N/A checklist on startup screen Third ON -> Random checklist name on startup screen (not checklist.gcl which is on the SD) And it actually updated here. I'm from the software world,...

Electronic checklist update voodoo

Hey folks, I've been tweaking the official NXI electronic checklist from here: https://www.diamondaircraft.com/en/service-and-support/diamond-flight-training/checklists/ Fixing all the bad formatting, removing redundant items, while adding my own to the flow. For the most part it's been OK, however ...
