Re: Donations

…. Our AWS bills increased a fair bit this past year due to more traffic hitting the website each month.

Chris, you may already be doing this, but compressing content with CloudFront may help reduce data egress costs. Here is some supporting info.

Re: Electronic Turn Coordinator Now Available

Great news! I have my TC blind mounted to drive KAP with G500 TXi and would look to go this way with 2 inch if it ever needed repair. But I hope the GFC500 becomes an option for the DA40 someday.

Re: SureFly Failure

Agreed. With all the double-check work done by the A&P IA after the SureFly was removed I think (hope) it was the wiring. If it was the SureFly I think their bench test would have picked it up.

Two troubleshooting suggestions SureFly additionally recommends are to remove the P-Lead ground wires ...

Re: SureFly Failure

SureFly bench tested the returned magneto and said it passes all tests as configured the way it was used on the plane. They also ran testing in the FAA configured manner and it also passed. For customer satisfaction they still will be reimbursing me for the replacement they sent me which I really ...

Re: Aircraft Paint - Shop challenges removing Flight Controls (Elevator and Flaps)

Paint turned out great cosmetically, and I’d do it again. It did add quite a bit of weight at around 59 pounds bringing my empty weight up to 1733 pounds reducing new useful load to 913 pounds. I did have some avionics work, added XeVision HID lights, 2nd SureFly with iBBS battery, and a Powerflow ...

Re: SureFly Failure

Received replacement SureFly today and it’s working great again. Overall great responsiveness from SureFly on quickly getting a replacement delivered. New right magneto is SIM 4N Revision H. I’ll share update from SureFly after their bench test of the problem part. Return USPS Priority shipping ...

Re: SureFly Failure

Update on my SureFly situation.

I have 234.2 tach hours with a May 2023 install on the first SureFly SIM installed in my dual SureFly DA40 with iBBS backup battery. This Saturday I had problems during run up where the right SureFly magneto (directly connected to 28v main battery, not iBBS backup ...

Re: Accelerated IFR training in DA40 - recommendations?

I also used PIC to finish up with Jim Casey out of KCCR who came to me in Sacramento to get me ready in 5.5 days. Hard to believe it could be done so quickly. Why did I wait??? Excellent experience for my situation.

Re: Steam DA40 to Glass

I would HIGHLY recommend that anyone who needs an instrument backup and using the GI275 AI as a backup for a G500 TXi also include another GI275 MFD to be able to have an HSI up allowing things like changing nav sources or the course in the case of a screen failure.

It’s possible, but a lot of ...

Re: New turbine engine for GA?

I thought that was pretty amazing, too!!!

The link below is to an AOPA video on a new turbine engine for GA I found interesting. I'm sure it is a long way off before its ready for prime time but it's interesting how they address the fuel consumption issue that has previously prevented turbines ...
