Re: Suddenly, she doesn't want to start.
When this happens to us, it's almost always flooded. We limit the electric pump usage and go full rich for <= 1 sec during priming and that usually does the trick. Have you tried flooded start procedures when it won't start for you (no pump, full throttle, mixture cutoff)?

Re: Planning an engine overhaul
Thanks for all the input. We have a 2002 DA-40 with the original engine monitor (VM1000). Doing some kind of data analysis would be helpful, but we have an old engine monitor (VM1000, shipped with 2002 model). Has anyone been able to pull engine data from that? Theoretically there is a serial port ...

Re: Mounting Insta360 with selfie stick
Trying to get a third person shot of the plane. Wing tip/tie down mounts without the stick don't fully capture the plane on low-wings and I'm trying to avoid mounting to any flight controls.

Planning an engine overhaul
We are coming up on an overhaul for our engine and are trying to decide whether to escalate it. We still have 200-300 hours to go, but have been noticing a slight increase in oil consumption, very dirty spark plugs, and oil spills above 5.5-6 qts. Also a 20+ year old engine. Other than that the ...

Mounting Insta360 with selfie stick
Has anyone had any success mounting a camera like the Insta360 or GoPro with the invisible selfie stick from the wing tie down or struts? Curious what tools/mounts are best and if there are any safety or regulatory processes to consider before doing it.

Re: Sun shades in the DA-40
I’ve had a similar issue with my iPad getting too hot during flights, and while Jet Shades are great, they are pricey. I’ve had good luck with some more affordable alternatives like reflective sunshades from ShadeCraft or even the DIY route with window film, which definitely helped keep the cabin ...

Re: Broken passenger window
My case is less severe, but I had one hinge come loose from where it attaches to the canopy at the bottom. I tried a couple of glues and a shop tried something “we’ve had pretty good luck with.” None of them worked. I ended up using a small strip of heavy-duty clear packing tape across the bottom ...

Thanks for that tip. What's the best place to get it? Only seeing it on eBay.

Broken passenger window
Our passenger window has fallen off with one of the hinges still on the canopy and the other attached to the window. See attached pictures. No idea how this happened. Given the hinges and lock are all still in tact I'm thinking we can probably super glue the window back on. Does anyone have any ...
