Free 'Static Hole Template'
This template is for locating the holes for the DA40 KAP autopilot dedicated static ports. It's a one time use (per plane) type of item. I no longer have a use for it and will likely recycle it. On the other hand someone (DA40 maintenance shop?) might like to have it. Pay for postage and it yours. e...

Re: Need a broker to sell my DA40
Moving to Denver and I need to sell my 2005 DA40. Can’t find a hangar at KAPA or KBJC but I need a faster TC airplane anyway. Anyone know a good broker I can use? Airplane is in SW Michigan. I recently used aerospacereports.com and had a smooth transaction. They did the escrow and paper work. Anoth...

So-long, Fare-well
:( / 8) It's a happy / sad time selling an aircraft. No boat analogies (happiest day of owning a boat...) needed as it was a good ride all around and even the adventure of the supercharger STC was worth it as well. Somebody had to do it. So my loved (DA40/SC) arrived at it's new home in the Peach Tr...

Re: Changed N Number Today
I remember doing that change from N649DS very shortly after getting my plane. It went to N8QQ. And now just recently I decided to put N8QQ on my Sportsman. This is sure to mess up my flight logs. Ha.

Re: Trim slipping
Andrew, Thanks for asking. It was most interesting an the solution was not what I had expected. It's been awhile since figuring this out so I'm working off memory. As I recall, tightening the pivot bolt thus adding tension to the packing did NOT solve the problem. What worked in the end was tighteni...

Re: The New Garmin GI 275 Attitude Indicator (AI/ADI)
Shows that it is compatible with the KAP140.
Wonder it it could be put in place of the standby AI and drive the KAP140 then remove the AI behind the PDF.

Re: Intermitent AHARS magnetometer issue
Thanks Karl.
Interesting how they immediately go to "replace". That's a big assumption (that nothing else is wrong). Also, there is not a consideration for 'intermittent'. I've been busy so I've not yet tried to do the alignment.

Re: Intermitent AHARS magnetometer issue
Brock, I never saw that in-flight fault message, so you may have a different problem, but your startup and taxi description is exactly what I was seeing. Have you tried the magnetometer recalibration yet? I went from HDG failures during taxi on more than half my flights, to zero failures after the ...

Intermitent AHARS magnetometer issue
There are a number of threads on AHRS issues. However I didn't quite find anything really helpful. Occasionally when I startup I don't have any magnetometer (no Compass) but it usually shows up upon taxi out. Then in flight I'll get the warning in the attached image. Is this a common failure mode or...
