Not to be a Debbie Downer but since you posted it to a forum is this legal owner maintenance per the FARs?

Re: 2004 Diamond Da40 G1000 always running Hobbs meter

check that your overhead cabin light is off. if left on it drains the battery and then runs the Hobbs for some reason. Done it twice.

Re: KaaP 140 Problem in Nav mode

I have had this problem for several years and ignored it since it is only about a 2 degree turn in the wrong direction for a couple of seconds. I think it changed after the last software upgrade (which was many years ago for my non-WAAS plane). All that said I am interested in a fix if someone knows...

Re: KAP140 HDG mode issue

I experienced the same problem on my G1000/KAP140. I don't recall the details but the avionics shop said the fix was within the KAP140, not G1000. The shop did mention the cable connection to a laptop that Steve mentions above. The first shop I called did not have this equipment so you may want to a...

Re: Replacing my battery - just because

Reading some of you with long battery longevity perhaps this is a reverse testimonial to Battery Minder - - We have owned our 2004 DA40 since 2007. We are in a community hangar that constantly gets shuffled so no opportunity to have a battery minder plugged in. I have had to replace the batter at 3 ...

Re: FAA Final Rule re Technically Advanced Aircraft (TAA)

I read an article a couple of months back that basically said the training and checkride could be done in a TAA aircraft, but the applicant still must have 10 hours of retract time in their logbook to qualify for a commercial certificate. Which for many of us still means we have to go rent a 1970s e...

Re: Loudspeaker 4 or 8 Ohm?

Mine blew out around the cone for the air pressure reasons mentioned above, but still seems to work fine with good clear audio. Since I live in Houston, this is just another much needed air vent! :)

Re: Keeping CHT temps in range on climb-out

Good points about the discrepancy in the Lycoming statement. I suppose I feel ok with my temporary <430 climb temps based on the factory rep statements, and at least one part of the Lycoming guidance allowing 435 F. continuous operation.

Re: Keeping CHT temps in range on climb-out

Hi Rob - I'm confused, do you mean the Lycoming guidance on cruise CHTs you quoted contradicts itself?
